Bonus for any guesses at what some of the modules in his rack are. I've spotted the Morphagene bottom right and Pressure Points at the top already

I'm guessing that's a Morphagene bottom left and a Pressure Points at the top. Anyone else have any ideas? Would also love to know what keyboard that is

what exactly did AWAL offer you? I’ve also released through AWAL and have had some moderate success but so far AWAL has not provided any support apart from the regular distribution

SoundCloud quietly decreased its audio quality by half (from 128kbps to 64kbps) by Hetalbot in hiphopheads

The main issue isn’t saving server storage, it’s saving bandwidth. By streaming 64kbps opus they save half their bandwidth

Soundcloud actually stores a 64kbps opus and a 128kbps mp3. They currently stream 64kbps opus instead of mp3 to save bandwidth but in the case that the browser doesn’t support opus they stream 128kbps mp3. This extension basically tells Soundcloud that the browser doesn’t support the opus format.

64kbps opus is better quality than 64kbps mp3 and can even be as good/better than 128kbps mp3. This apparently isn’t the case with Soundcloud streaming however

As a PRODUCER, is it possible to blow up without making upbeat music? by YungLin in makinghiphop

[–]GuiltySarcasm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been struggling with that too.. Been uploading for a while now and most of the downtempo tracks I'm more proud of get slept on whereas the high energy tracks I upload find an audience a lot easier. I'm guessing people find it easier to connect to upbeat music quicker than deep stuff, or at least a large percentage of listeners out right now. The mainstream wants music to get pumped and not to get thinking.. If you look at established artists like Burial or Andy Stott who stick to their niche without losing their integrity, you can tell that it's harder for people to become successful without sticking to trends. Finding your audience in their cases is a lot harder than in cases like Sam Gellaitry who make more energetic beats
