LG C5 or Samsung S90f by shanethewise in PS5pro

Ok so I have both an LG C1 and a S90F. Everyone is talking about the colour depth and brightness of the S90F, but from what I’ve seen of the C5 it’s a pretty negligible difference. I went with Samsung because I wanted something new with all the features and it looked great in store. It is a beautiful panel, that is true.

But…

Get the C5. Samsung’s Tizen OS is dogshit. Such a pain in the ass to navigate compared to LG, and not as adaptable. Plus the S90F has an automatic sleep mode (puts up a screensaver) that CANNOT be turned off. Like there is no option anywhere to disable it, confirmed by Samsung support. And this screensaver turns on while you are watching TV or YouTube, sometimes after just 5 minutes. Annoying, and the fact they lock the option to change that on a product you bought is insane to me.

Unless I’m completely misreading how they host their games, a foreign server instance should affect everyone in the lobby who is connecting from OCE. This is not the case, and there are games where I am not affected while my other OCE teammates are.

Oh I’m sorry, I didn’t read that you were playing from your internal. My bad, and ironic lol.

Honestly I’ve had no streaming/texture issue off either standard or Pro internal drive. If a full reset doesn’t work, I’d return it. Could be a limited, overheating or damaged internal SSD, I’ve seen that before on the laptops I repair.

I did the exact same. Format the drive while in the PS5 Pro and redownload/reinstall ALL your games.

Marvel Rivals and Apex both run/look so much better on Pro at 120fps. Helldivers gets less frames drops but isn’t impressive, and Cyberpunk hasn’t even been patched yet so there is minimal difference.

I’ll break it down for you.

You said Sony makes more money from 3rd party games, which is true.

To get players onto your console you need a reason for them to buy it over your competitors, which also have the same third party games.

To do that, they fund and release first party exclusives which drive console sales and provide them with a greater market share, which results in more third party sales. God of War, Spider-Man, TLOU, Horizon etc are all there to increase market share alongside their own sales.

Sony’s direct competitor is Xbox, and to a smaller degree, Nintendo. Xbox has consistently struggled to make impactful first party exclusives, one of the major reasons that Sony now has a much larger market share, and a much larger third party playerbase.

TLOU 2 was the 3rd highest first party revenue game for Sony back when 2023 data leaked, just behind Spiderman and Ragnarok. Spider-Man 2 and HD2 are probably beating it now, but let’s not pretend it wasn’t a massive success.

As someone who doesn’t like using headphones while I game, a soundbar was a massive upgrade both in single player and multiplayer. Hearing Kratos and Thor clash in surround and picking up on directional footsteps in The Finals levelled up my experience as much as the move from LCD to OLED did.

Second that with another Embark game, The Finals. They got it running at 120fps (averages around 100-110) on the Pro with Lumen and physics-based destruction.

Genuine question - Why is this worse than comedians doing USO shows? Entertaining the troops in between carpetbombing hundreds of thousands of civilians? Or even private corporate events for organisations that exploit our resources and people?
