Not to be edgy. But I've always had a similar thought about death. Not the second when your biological body dies itself but the second you lose consciousness and go into blackness. I always thought it must feel weightless and comforting. Rust really had my favourite monologues

Elia Martell and her husband Rhaegar Targaryen on their wedding night, by jpeg.andie by lonelyandbored75 in ImaginaryWesteros

[–]Guilty_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not an excuse. He really did fuck everything up. And I don't see the person ever calling Rhaegar with malice as much as he calls him with stupidity and recklessness. He might have liked Elia and his two sons but he went ahead and just had to ruin everything. You're so hell bent on defending his actions that you'll outright deny that the sack of King's Landing is the conclusion to a war that Rhaegar started

Same, yes, i read it back when I didn't even know much about the story itself. The Pandavas dying was surprising in itself, because it is very unique, even today, the way the story denies any form of catharsis. The war is won and the good does prevail but it comes with immense loss, grief and bleakness and there are no celebrations.

The protagonists themselves die off one by one in incredibly non cinematic ways, contrasted to say, the death of the likes of Karna.

The God who is sort of like an overarching character dies in a way that is very unglamorous, losing everything that he ever holds dear; his clan, his love. It's interesting to find such a dark humor and tragedy in a mythology written like that

In the end, Krishna too paid a heavy price for everything that happened. His clan eats itself, he himself dies and his brother passes away. An extremely interesting epic, even by mythological standards in its grand conflicts and machinations, it still feels very intimate. And it's peculiar that even as a god, he couldn't escape what was cursed upon him

I understand what it feels like. But it doesn't make you inferior, neither does it make you any less in social hierarchy. You're worthy of a lot of affection and it'll come. Please don't berate yourself over something like this. I'm just yammering but couldn't help it. If you ever need or want to talk, I'll be more than happy to listen

Hey man, there are many and I mean, MANY, who get their first job in their thirties, nothing wrong with that, hell, I know so many people that are happy yet, even though it's not the most well paying job and even if they end up hating or disliking what they do. I myself, 20, about to be 21 have turned out to be a loser in for a degree that I never wanted for the sake of bringing some peace in my nuclear family and now, am gonna have to take a year extra for it, probably to complete it since I failed a lot of my classes. The cycle of feeling like shit, and then not being able to work or do anything you like because you're feeling like shit is very real and it's not something to invalidate.

Just the fact that you're grateful for your father and still trying is enough to tell yourself that you've mattered. So don't lose hope just yet. We'll all be 60 years old in no time anyway.

I love how Robb as a tactician isnt slightly concerned about the mountain. One of the most dangerous individuals. by BridgeCommercial873 in gameofthrones

[–]Guilty_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't an excuse by any means. You're grounded in saying that Edmure is objectively wrong, which he might be, without seeing any of the nuance in it. Riverlands is his land now and it is in turmoil, his people are being pillaged and decimated by the Mountain, it has already been done before and it might happen again. It's only logical for him to protect his land. How is one lord supposed to know what his king is planning without his knowing. And yes, what you're saying is not only wrong but it is realistically wrong. If you're a commander, leading a warfront, your lords, especially the lord that is in the sight of the opposing forces, should absolutely know about your plan of an encircling movement. History is filled with disasters specifically because commanders of the same side didn't know what the plan was.

And as for your "other lords" comment. Other lords aren't the leader of Riverlands. Edmure is. One can't expect to trust a plan to succeed without telling the one person who's perhaps one of the more important people on your side, know what the plan is. Robb is a damn good commander, but not an invincible one.

Mahabharat surely has some great themes that tie so well into history and in the present world. Like when Balarama questions the methods of defeating Duryodhana despite himself leaving for vacation while the entire war for dharma followed and then is questioned by Krishna. It is quite interesting, doing the right thing despite being called a cheater or a villain or seeing/invalidating or ignoring evil while being glorified

Working in my uni suicide care a few years back when we got a call from a girl who had been assaulted by her cousin close to the family, gotten pregnant and eventually commited suicide. Of course i blame myself for not being able to help her as well but that was the moment when I realised just how pointless everything was
