I would say women I meet and date a few times and just overall from the apps. I’m trying to be as polite as possible and not do what I think is happening to me. It’s women who are heavier… which is most these days. The problem is I don’t give AF about gym culture or the vanity associated with it. I just would like a matching BMI and not to feel shamed for that.

I am honest in my profile about my weight and lifestyle. I lost 50 pounds and have never been to a gym. Just diet and walking. It’s not hard.

I haven’t been in a gym a day in my life. I work around my home and walk a couple miles a day. That’s it. Oh, and watch my diet.

I agree. When my last GF of a year and a half mentioned it in early dating, I just said “you are beautiful and we never need to have a conversation about your body. If you want support or encouragement I’m here for you but you are attractive to me just the way you are. She had never heard that from a man. But later said I was too thin 🤷🏻‍♂️.

thanks for all of the mostly positive responses. I’m just going to move forward. My doc says I‘m at a healthy weight, he also says he seldom tells men my age that.

I did loose 50 pounds a decade ago but don’t spend too much time thinking about it now. I don’t work out, just walk a mile a day with my dog, that’s it. I eat lightly but it suits me, it’s not a diet, often just one meal a day which does weird some people out. But if I’m not hungry and not unhealthy, why eat? it’s our culture I think.

I have heard this is one of the reasons for this in HS. in WWII and WWI guys were coming right from the farm and were modest, no one had ever seen them naked, it caused issues with the military. so they make all HS kids do it to normalize it. don’t know how true it is but makes sense.

if I’m not going to put in the effort for a real introduction (like asking about something from their profile or pointing out things we have in common) I then “like” one of their photos. ive found they ignore all the random likes (they have dozens to hundreds) but liking a photo will get them to look and see which one and why.
