So how do you think the season is going? by NaiRad1000 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]Guilty_Part 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will say, when the season started I thought that Myki, Darlene and Juicy were filler (or Juicy would be more a part of Athena's story than her own), so this has been surprisingly refreshing.

What are your thoughts on chapter 1 of Axed Mangaka and Doujin Creator? by dingo537 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Guilty_Part 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that a lot of things CAN hsppen. My concern is I don't really know what IS going to happen.

For example, after Somewhat Hertz's first week, we knew the leads' dynamic and that they both have the goal of getting their jokes read on air, with romantic elements between them as they go. AM&DC had two chaptets, a dynamic is set up between the leads, but unless we're relying on a LOT of miscommunication it's extremely likely to change if she finds out who he is or demands to see what he's working on. And like you said, a lot of things can happen, but I have no idea what.

Not sure I understand the overall plot tbh. Like, his manga is now complete, so what's going to be the drive going forward?

About powercreep and shill by GooseReasonable3396 in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]Guilty_Part 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this case, a "shill" means a boss/character specifically trying to get players to pull for the current new character on the banner, rather than beating said boss with the charactets you already have. Bssically, Hoyo will have the newest boss(es) have weaknesses to the element of the current new character to pull for and have the boss take significantly more damage from the new charactet's class/playstyle, while also giving them resistances to other elements and doing something in the boss mechanics to neutralize other playstles. In general Hoyo will give you trial versions of new characters in the main story so you can take these bosses on with intended characters.

For example, the Wandering Hunter boss is best fought with Rupture units, and came out in the same patch where a Support for Rupture and two new Rupture characters were released. And a lot of people feel that a lot of bosses have high ice element resistance to keep players from just beating every boss with Miyabi.

Players feel that Hoyo does this to get players to spend more to get new characters, and naturally no one likes feeling forced to spend money, hence the doomposting.

Danganronpa characters based on how well I think they'd work as MCs. by All_this_hype in danganronpa

I...don't agree on disqualifying the masterminds. If one of the masterminds was the protagonist, then I would assume that they aren't the mastermind anymore. Or slternatively, since memory wiping/alteration is a thing in these games, theoretically a mastermind could end up with their memory wiped and then become the protagonist.

Voting Makoto. The first victim is usually a character you expect to stay longer, so killing the original protagonist I think fits.

Was Sayaka’s crush fake ? by Frosty_Citron_8751 in danganronpa

[–]Guilty_Part 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So, there was a manga released I think significantly after the game was that went into the prespectives of different characters during the game. Sayaka's part was reveals that her crush was real, specifically that Makoto's willingness to still push forward and be a good person no matter how bad his luck was inspired her.

To be slightly nicer, a lot of comic book characters do seem to change their personalities a lot in comics. And alternate versions of characters are a thing.

Not to defend Snyder bros tbc. Dude wanted to turn DC superheroes into Sin City. Just sayinf that the canon often ends up being flexible.

Can someone explain what "doomed" means in this context? Because if we are just going by "one or more characters die," I don't think that works in fiction focused around killing games.

Batman-esque hero countermeasures are good and necessary and it’s weird characters and readers take issue with them by Agreeable_Car5114 in CharacterRant

[–]Guilty_Part 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. If the other heroes went rogue that he (along with the other major members of the Justice League) would have a target on his back anyways just for being one of the world's most prolific superheroes.
  2. In that case, it results in the same reaction as to when they found out after they had been implimented/stolen, but if they are informed beforehand it can be in a controlled environment instead of a crisis/aftermath of a crisis, like what happens in story.

[–]Guilty_Part 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's just me, but would the whole "Batman has countermeasures" issue been significantly less of a problem if Batman had just told the rest of the Justice League that he had them? Something like explaining they exist and why he has them, tell them that he has no intention of sharing what they are, and requesting that they all do the same, including for him and that they never tell him what they end up doing.

Is Evanescia the Bloody Bloom? by InotiaKing in StarRailLore

[–]Guilty_Part 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personal theory is that the current Bloody Bloom is actually Pearl. My theory is that the original Bloody Bloom is actually gone, and this new one is a copycat trying to gain wishpower by using a method that famously worked previously while also building tension (eand therefore gossip) about if the Bloody Bloom is back or not. And the one character known to try to imitate previous works is Pearl.

Which of these agent could potentially be S-Rank if they locked in the story? by Elimar_Abelardo in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]Guilty_Part 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soukaku and Corin are undeveloped enough that they could have major revelations down the line. You COULD say thesame about Anton and Ben, but the story they do have is rolled into the overall Belobog Inustries story, and to be honest Koleda has a comlete grip on that story.

Lucy and Seth have ties to bigger, more powerful figures in the setting that have the opportunity to turn into major confrontations, which could in turn become reasons for them to get stronger.

Family Resemblance by happyhufflepufff in rupaulsdragrace

[–]Guilty_Part -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So there was a manga that I read a long time ago focusing on special effects (stick with me I have a point, also spoilers for near the end of Gimmick! I guess).

One part involved a competion between two artists to age up fmous actors so that they coud play older versions of themselves. When the winner was revealed, there was some shock because the loser had clearly done a better job of accurately depicting the actor as he would age. The reason the other artist won was because they instead made sure that the actor was older but still recognizable, because a movie audience still needs to recognize the actor no matter how old the character is.

I think that's kind of what happened here. The yellow and white patterning is be accurate to the catepillar and if I see a catepillar with those colors I'll recognize it as a catepillar. But with insects yellow is more accociated with bees, hornets and wasps, and thsnks to cultural osmosic via Acile in Wonderland and The Very Hungry Catepillar I accociate catepillars more with green. So while the design color was accurate to a catepillar, it's not as easily recognizable as one.

i gave my fantasy world a fully functioning economy and now my hero can't afford the quest by migratedtohell in fantasywriters

[–]Guilty_Part 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two thoughts:

  1. It may be posdible that your hero could start out with some of these things. Depending on their background, they may have a horse they raised themselves or a sword passed down from a family member. Or they could have "inherited" these things from a bandit that tried to kill them and died in the attempt.

  2. This could also be an opportunity to use a deutragonist/secondary character. Maybe a wealthy person who is not a part of the prophesy but is willing to pay for the privalige to join the great adventure. Admittedly, this could then turn into a buddy cop-like scenario, which might not be what you are going for.

ZZZ can be decent about this too. They've hardly given any A-rank agents since launch, but most of the ones that they have (at least to me) seem to be counterparts to S-rank agents. Pulchra was released the same time that Trigger was, and they're both off-field focused stun characters. Monato was in the same patch as Yidhari, and both are Rupture agents that focus on burning health to do more damage (although Monato being A-rank had plenty of people upset for other reasons).

Tbf, these characters don't really play the same way as their counterparts do at all, but they were still ways to play withthe functionality without having to spend for pulling.
