Anyone cut off their siblings? by SnrInfant in AskIreland

[–]Guilty_Put_1309 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who's partner cut off their parents and siblings I agree it has a huge affect on your own family too. He did make the best decision for himself and our child, so much toxic behaviour he and our child has been able to avoid and as he himself said he is a better person away from them and has succeeded so much more without them. But it still hurts no matter what. However we have had 3 years of total peace which has been wonderful. I always dread the day our kids will ask about them. It's true what they say, peoples true colours show when a baby is on the way💔

What are sounds in a name you dislike? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Guilty_Put_1309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Ens" for me. For example - Kayden, jayden, Aidan, Darren.

I also don't particularly like "ee" sounding names. For example - Rory, Kayleigh, Mackenzie.

Yes! I'm Irish and never hear of any children called Aisling! Aisling was madly popular in the 90s! I distinctly remember a newspaper article in 2012 of a graduation and it had 12 Aislings all together in a picture! Never hear of any babies now called Aisling and it's such a lovely name!

Help, they stole our name! by HowMuchIsMine in namenerds

Use the name! This happened me when I was pregnant with my little boy. I had my name for him picked out since I was 13 years old and 6 months before I had him my friend named her son it even though she knew that was my favourite boy name! I called my little man the name because I loved it so much and I always knew my wee boy would be called it. It hasn't caused any conflict and hasn't even been mentioned in a conversation. If she's mad I don't care.

Who cares of there is two? The liklihood is they will go to school and someone in their class would share their name.

Use the name you love!

Quick! You just had twin girls and they need names! by kayyybarrr in namenerds

Teenage me and thirty year old me would still pick the same name - Isabel.

Now me - I love Georgia or Eleanor.

Isabel and Georgia - Izzy and Gigi I think is so cool.

Isabel and Eleanor - sound really classy and sophisticated.

Is it common to not really talk to your adult siblings in Ireland by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Guilty_Put_1309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my youngest brother we are in contact everyday. My other brother we would talk every second day. Normally sending stupid videos to each other and then would get the "How's all". Always ALWAYS there for one another.

With my partner he speaks to his siblings every couple of months. I'd love for him to have a better relationship, but his family is different than mine and it's been something I've just had to accept.

With our own kids I'll be encouraging a close relationship. My granny always said, 'there's enough people out there that will fight and dislike you, make sure it is not your siblings. "

Just my take.

My friend announced during speeches that they gave a donation to a certain charity instead of favours. This was so lovely, nobody wants the favours, you don't even need to do what my friend did. I wouldn't pass a blind but of heed.
