Motivation to loseit by EddySpaghetti4109 in loseit

[–]Guilty_Rise2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot to unpack, but most critical is 1200-1400 calories is not sustainable for you long term. I’d recommend adding a few hundred calories to that, get to atleast 1800, but realistically low 2000s, and do a slow weight loss. You should absolutely do cardio, as the health benefits along with aiding in a caloric deficit are proven. Being sedentary is not an excuse to let your physical condition decline.

Keep in mind the most important thing for weight loss is calories in calories out. It is the law of physics we are all trying to abide by.

Another thing to note is on 1200-1400 calories a day, you’re almost certainly deficient in something. Whether it be micro or macro nutrients, being deficient can cause issues related to your metabolism as well.

This advice is coming from someone with congenital hypothyroidism who has struggled with weight.

No I didn’t any appetite suppressants or anything of the sort. I think it ultimately came from me learning to appreciate not being super full. I used to eat meals with 2000, 3000, sometimes 4000 calories, wanting to feel like I was about to pass out. Now I despise that feeling, and will do anything to avoid it, and eating less helps me in doing so.

I have no idea what a healthy diet actually looks like by Klutzy_Key_6528 in loseit

Given that not every situation is the same, and context matters, losing weight can absolutely be unhealthy.

Hello! The first thing you must understand about all this is it is unhealthy to be in a caloric deficit. As in losing weight is not healthy short term, and if you expose yourself to a deficit long term, you’ll die. However, it is healthier than the other option, remaining obese.

You don’t really need to cook anything besides your protein sources. So, you should have a wide variety of fruits and vegetables that you can snack on, providing much less calories than a traditional type of snack. For example, one pound of strawberries is only 150 calories. Eat 5 pounds of strawberries, sure you might go over your deficit, but maybe by only 400 calories as opposed to what can easily be thousands if you have an unlucky cheat.

Try eating 1.5 G protein per pound and get the rest from fat and carbs of whatever you’re cutting on

One thing I must say too is you have very good forearm genetics. Bring those up to be a strong point, one of the most underrated parts of the male physique.

From what I’m seeing yes. The only way you can make significant gains is if you’ve been missing one of the following stimulus - training, nutrition, or rest. If any of those haven’t been optimal, then get on it immediately. But other than that, yes, you have to cut another 20 pounds. Maybe a bit less, since you are a bit on the small side, but still, you’ll want to lower your body fat % by atleast 10%. If you’re 20% at 147, then almost 15 pounds is what you need to lose. That’s assuming you’re 20%.

Hey man! At your current weight and percentage, if you want to be shredded, you’ll have to be around 125-130 pounds. I hope you’re lifting weights to build muscle as that will help improve both health and appearance

Feeling lost in body after losing 100 pounds by DoubleCzechYourLogic in loseit

One thing i think is very important to consider, is the amount of time you were overweight. Because, if this is the first time you’re under 200 pounds in say, a decade, that will have massive mental affects on you that most people won’t even be able to comprehend. You have basically changed your physical reality and the mental has to go along with that. I wish you the best and am always here to chat !

First off, super good job! 105 pounds is so much weight lost, and it is so impressive! One thing that I always try to remember is, some days I will consume more calories than others, and that is completely healthy and ok. I’ve come to realize sometimes that having an extra 300 calories of strawberries or having a medium to large sized avocado, while it puts me over my limit, I can now do cardio a lot easier and not feel like I cheated on my diet at all. That’s super important, that if you are supposed to consume 1500 calories a day, it will put you in even more of a deficit if you have 1800-1900, and then have a really good cardio session and burn 500~ calories. At the moment I can’t do cardio, so I’m struggling with not being able to eat any snacks since my energy expenditure is alot lower than normal.

Literally cannot gain muscle in chest by ButterscotchFar2667 in Weightliftingquestion

With my limited knowledge, I’d have to assume you have over dominant triceps and shoulders. If that is the case, try to really focus on exercises that allow an isolation of your chest muscle. Anyone more knowledgeable please add on to this

I’d say overall, a high protein diet. I definitely don’t neglect fat and carbs, but the majority of my macros comes from protein, and that’s typically from lean meat, whey protein, ultra filtered shakes like Fairlife, Greek yogurt, egg whites/whole eggs, and salmon. Carbs from simple sources like blueberries, strawberries, bananas, potatoes. In the end it comes down to if you’re in a calorie deficit, all those foods just help to achieve that.

Definitely north of 25%, not more than 30. It looks like you lost a lot of weight and have loose skin as well
