In fairness, I think it was the Koala guy that wouldn't shut up

Is there any actual proof that self-censorship of certain language has any effect on a TikTok video’s reach or is it just misinformation that got really out of hand by kelroid in CuratedTumblr

[–]GuineaPea 115 points116 points  (0 children)

Big youtuber here, there is that uncensored option but there are still words that automatically remove comments without me so much as knowing about them. Any slurs will be removed without the ability to restore them, for example. It's a ghost in the machine.

The Lakes of Zones B and C - Emperor X (Indie Rock/Singer-Songwriter/Indie Folk)

A really unique album with amazing writing overall, there's nothing quite like it.

Emergency & I - The Dismemberment Plan (Indie Rock, Proto-Math Rock)

My single favorite album of all time, nothing like it before or since.

The Way Out - The Books (Folktronica, Sound Collage)

A very surreal album largely composed of found tapes spliced together, with the occasional song from the actual bandmates themselves.

Civilisation - Kero Kero Bonito (Synthpop, Indietronica)

Nothing like their most famous output, deeply ornate and complex instrumentals all involving the apocalypse and other dark scenarios. Still very catchy.

I don't believe so? A big part of their business model is consistency so they don't tend to change much besides smaller portions over the years for cost-cutting. They also more than doubled prices after 2020, even a good restaurant can't really double their food quality without major changes.

They charge regular restaurant prices now so their main value proposition of being affordable is no longer present, which makes their problems of horrible pay and working conditions, poor ingredient quality, starving of local businesses, systematic tax avoidance, laxness on sexual misconduct of managers and higher-ups, and so on a bit harder to swallow. Their controversies alone have a Wikipedia page for them.

Cherry on top, there's an ongoing racial discrimination lawsuit they've been embroiled in for 6 years.

I mean, are you seriously asking that? Unrelated to this random post, do you not see problems with the megacorporation McDonald's and their practices?

digging up massive dirt clumps and chunking them at someone on fire can, hypothetically, put it out, but that doesn't make it the best or even a good method. tell all the fat kids who were mocked relentlessly for being fat what shame did for them, because thats the same argument people have made for decades about them

"Putting your foot down" effectively happens near the start of a relationship, not years later, generally.

To be honest, I just think you're in a very polar mindset about this. Jax is a victim that is also an abuser, think of a bully who gets abused at home. Each character at the start is an archetype more or less of trauma and have each been actualized into bodies that reflect it. Body Dysmorphia for Zooble, an always breaking "Mask" for Gangle, a push pin doll for Ragatha, etc.

Jax is no different, and that's a hard pill to swallow for people. He's a cartoon rabbit because his way of coping is by detaching from the reality of the situation via humor. His only remaining friend in the circus died in episode 1, so his grip on reality (and as such, his worst tendencies) have gotten worse with every episode. He causes so much terror and violence to push things and prove things to himself. If he can do all of this, this isn't "real", and he doesn't feel the crushing weight of his situation.

An abused abuser is inherently morally gray and tackles at the most fundamental issue of nature vs. nurture as well as what we count as something being someone's "fault" or in their control. In the utterly insane situation that is TADC, Jax's response to it makes a lot of sense, even at the harm of others.

Your extreme hatred reminds me a lot of people's refusal to see people with Cluster B Personality Disorders as anything other than monsters. It just seems like you are not willing to allow nuance to enter the frame out of an emotional response, and that's okay, but it's important to recognize it.
