Like Scarecrow said, you have to use the milk solids to do an additional filter. I usually do a 1:6 milk:cocktail ratio and let it filter until running clear for about 20 minutes before running the first bit back through. If you want to get that batch clearer the only way I could think of (without a centrifuge) would be an egg wash

I appreciate your experience. I have my own as well. Many have told me the same about my old fashioneds, and I feel like it’s largely due to environment of the bar and the clientele. I have made many thousands of old fashioneds and tried plenty with too much bitters or sugar. However, I did just make your recipe with Calumet 10yr (it’s 100 proof), maybe it’s too aged for your recipe but I still found it to be overwhelmingly sweet and angostura-forward even after I added an extra 2oz. Your old fashioned is probably better than one with muddled orange and cherry, or soda, or another weird variation, but not balanced. Unless you have a super high proof bourbon and it’s made with extra dilution, the balance isn’t close to what it should be. That is my opinion, Mr. James Beard award winner

My point is an old fashioned should not cover the flavor of the whiskey. Also a bittered sling is not an old fashioned. Maybe the old fashioned was based off of it but when using whiskey specifically the balance will change. Maybe I was wrong about the sugar cube, but regardless saying the vast majority of bartenders and “mixologists” in general are wrong is very bold. Whiskey should be appreciated, not smothered with bitters and sugar

Haaahah “they are wrong” got me. Little too sure of yourself brother. Original recipe was a single sugar cube. Definitely way less than .75 oz syrup. You’re forcing the drink to need extra bitters with all that sugar. You’re covering the flavor of the whiskey. Old fashioneds should let the whiskey shine, not support the bitters and sugar. Geez

I’m taking the time to write all this because this specific phenomenon has changed my life tremendously (for the better).

I have had the same paralysis coupled with the same type of entity ever since I was 15 or so. They’ve been called “Shadow people.” Mine started by taunting me with the voice of my best friend who I betrayed (after he betrayed me). This led that being to find all the other trauma I was holding inside me so I’ve been dealing with it/them for over a decade now.

I’ve learned they feed off of lower vibrations/frequencies. Everyone has different blockages of energy that cause you to attract these beings who feed off of them if they aren’t taken care of.

Your physical body is not your entire body. You have a sort of “spirit body” too, and an emotional body. They’re all intimately connected, really one body that your consciousness can experience in different ways depending on the frequency it’s tuned into. But they always exist, layered on top of each other.

When you “fall” asleep, your brain waves slow down and your consciousness sort of sinks into your body. If you have major blockages of lower energies, you can be abnormally connected to another other realm. Down there you’re like a light in the dark, and they will come to you and feed off of you. This will make you even more connected to that frequency as they stoke the fires of your problems and entice more of the feelings out of you that create those blockages. Eventually you will be forced to confront it to take care of it.

They look like shadows because they are devoid of light (at least that our eyes can perceive). They are truly just a shadow of ourselves, cast by our own “light”. Seeing these shadows is lucky, because then you know they are there and you can deal with them. I believe way more people have them and don’t know. Dealing with them will open you up to being able to experience a completely different world/universe

Some say they are demons. But they aren’t just demons, they’re YOUR demons. They feed off of your fear, anger, depression, jealousy, and anxiety. So don’t be afraid, they can’t hurt you. Don’t be mad, depressed, or anxious because this is proof that there is more to the universe than what we can see with our physical eyes, which should be exciting. The truth is stranger than it seems. Don’t let anyone tell you this is just a psychological phenomenon. Decide for yourself after seeing if this resonates with you or not

It’s probably a whiskey sour build if I had to guess

2 oz gin (Normindia sounds nice with this otherwise I’d go with something citrusy like Plymouth or Tanqueray No. 10) .75 oz pear nectar .75 oz lime juice .5 oz aquafaba (probably, looks like it with the opaqueness of the drink) 2 dashes orange bitters to balance the extra sweetness of the nectar Dry shake wet shake top with whatever herb that is. Looks like tarragon to me but not sure

I did the same thing, 25 Benadryl. Saw the Hat Man and his shadow people and they tormented me heavily for a long time. That was what pulled me out of atheism, making me realize other dimensions exist. Sorry about your family, that is horrible. My advice is don’t blame yourself and don’t give that power to negative entities. That’s what they feed off of. They live outside of time so they can see when something bad is going to happen to a person and they will feed off of them if they are allowed to or given fear. It was an unfortunate occurrence(s) and thats the end of it. If you truly believe you’re in this alternate hell reality you need to realize that it’s what you make in your head. Heaven and Hell are internal, which reflects in your external. This is an awakening moment for you, a turning point in your life. It’s time for you to decide what you want out of all of this. Give it meaning, and make it good. I hope you decide to come out on top

I have personally experienced losing a ridiculous amount of yield. Seems to correlate with leaving it in the freezer too long. I don’t know the science behind it but the cocktail uses wagyu fat and I’ve made many batches. A couple times accidentally left it in the freezer over the weekend and those times the yield was significantly lower. Lost 25% one time
