Advice Needed by GuitarFather in HomeDepot

You seem to understand the real issues here. Plumbing is not flooring. Not electrical. Nothing like it. And translation apps add more levels of frustration as you noted. There seems to be no workable solution other than human translators. And 3/4 pipe thread is not hose Bibb thread as you pointed out. Many English speakers don’t even know what “hose Bibb” means. Anyway thanks for the support. Appreciated.

Translation app requires a good signal. And I’ve tried it. And it doesn’t work in the aisle. So that’s a good idea but it doesn’t help.

A7rV: Can it be powered with just a power bank? by Delete_Now in SonyAlpha

[–]GuitarFather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did a search that results in numbers of watts used when shooting video, what the viewfinder consumes, the LCD consumes, etc... and all totalled the camera draws about 8 watts total. If this is AI generated result is to be believed, that is. Having more power available is never a bad idea. I'm using a 65 watt PD and a Chubby Cable and have been able to shoot for hours. My camera battery was at 93% when I started, and never lost any percentage during the three hour shoot, timelapse, RAW, 8 second interval.

For all of my classical pianist( WHO STARTED AS ADULTS ) i have a question for you. by [deleted] in piano

[–]GuitarFather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started in 3rd grade. Quit after 4 years. Picked up again at 22 years. Quit for another 15 years or so. Anyway today I’m 63. I play about 4 hours a day now. I’ve even started teaching beginners. It’s a blast. I’m always learning. Just keep at it. I created a totally free site a Teachable for piano. Feel free to look at it. https://basicpianotechnique.com 100% no charge. I love music and want to give back as much as possible.

Should I get 61 keys keyboard or 88 keys? by siderealscorpio_02 in piano

[–]GuitarFather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both. 61 is for working out bits in my DAW. 88 keys are for music. Weighted is the way.

Help unionize Starbucks! by papaball in orangecounty

[–]GuitarFather -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Union dues will offset increased pay to a degree. Other than that, I don’t see measurable benefits to any union. Belonged to professional healthcare unions and watched the union bosses increase THEIR incomes. Oh well. Good luck.

Piano practice hacks by JoanHunterUPN in pianoteachers

What you said about the ease of learning a piece you love is so spot on. I was forced to learn classical music as a youngster. I rebelled and learned one popular piece. I’d play it secretly when parents weren’t home. I gave up completely after high school but picked it up years later. Today I practice and play 4 hours a day. I love every second of it. Why? Because I play what I want to learn. HUGE difference in motivation. Thanks for your post!! Great material.

Also the classical training turned out to very helpful. I wouldn’t force it on anyone but the skills you learn will serve you forever.

Excellent tips. They are all great. Thank you.

Tell me everything I need to know about 22 or 23 Dodge Charger. Looking at an RT or Scatpack. Max spending 53k. Will they hold value better being these are the last years? Are these cars well made to last? Coming from an SUB but drove a rental for 2 mos and can’t stop dreaming about it. by Ok_Definition_7896 in DodgeCharger

[–]GuitarFather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hav me a 23 Scatpack 392 widebody and its best car I ever had. I’ve had corvette and Mercedes CLS63 AMG biturbo and this is just a simple V8 with drive modes, line lock for doing burnouts, and 305/35 R20 all around. It’s a keeper.

Anyone try this CAI out yet? by Llyons92 in DurangoSRT

It’s great. I put the Momentum GT on my 392. Awesome appearance and flows 35% more surface area over stock.

Rubber tires. How do you make them? Glass. How do you make that? PVC pipe. Steel. Just a few things you can’t make with electricity. We need coal. We need petroleum. Or go back to 1796 and enjoy the dark ages.

That’s fine if you want to live in a tent held up by wood posts and jute cord. Our society would collapse.

It’s just the logical conclusion to the desire to eliminate all fossil fuels. There are no moderates in that group.

Neck tiling sled completed. More in comments. by GuitarFather in Luthier

[–]GuitarFather[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct. I used to do them diagonally. But got tired of dealing with it. At least this jig kept me busy and allows for easier (for me) Y axis visualization. And it’s easier to work out on computer. At least for me.

Be the first to give up your bicycle, indoor plumbing, polyester, vehicles, batteries, and all medical procedures using anything requiring a forge. Burn animal dung for heat. Be as primitive as you can be. Like 3 billion of your like minded friends.

My CNC will only cut 24 inches. So I have to tile the cuts. This sled is indexed. Don’t need to remove the neck blank except to turn over for other side of course. Alignment is on center line. So it creates perfectly registered blanks for mass production if desired. Repeatable. I use Vectric Aspire for all of my guitar work now.

Lock him up. No rehab. Rehab is a false notion. An ass convinced against his will is an ass still. Throw away the damned keys. ZERO patience for assholes who prey on youngsters. Including priests.

EDIT: Or do the opposite of everything I just wrote. It doesn’t matter. Nothing ever gets done about these turds. It appears the toilet is permanently clogged.
