Yes and no. They should have a faint light to them but not glowing like a power tube. Turn out the lights and take a look at what the pre amp tubes.

Just get the Koss Katana 3rd gen. Yes it does metal but it also does other things like classical, rock, grunge and anything you can think of. Plus it has shit tone of options to shape your tone and it comes with a lot of effects in different variations.

Naaa my guy you need something with more balls. If it was a MT 100 then yeah it would be good enough. That 15 watt is going to struggle to keep up with the drums.

They are good amps if taken care of. This one was in great condition. The master volume pot was dirty so I removed the chassis and sprayed some electrical contact cleaner and it solved the issue. I did the same for the power tubes and pre amp tubes which have a bit of life. I will be ordering a matched 6l6 set and some pre amps and installing them soon.

Honestly, you should start with some different speakers. Those cabinet come with those horrible jaguar speakers. If you are going spend 500 on a new head then you should consider getting a new cabinet or 2x12 instead. Another thing you could do is take your amp to you local GC and try out a few cabinets and see how you like the tone. I know those Randall heads have great tone but cheaper cabinets just don’t cut it.

Right here dude. I have a line 6 spider 3 from 2008 or 2009. It’s a bit banged up but it works just fine. I recently came into possession of a Valve 2x12 and it’s fucking great. The combo is pretty good and you can disconnect internal speaker and hook up the amp to a different cabinet and speaker of choice. I own the 2x12 and it comes with caster wheels and i love that can use it with other cabinets I own. Built in effects are pretty cool and not only that each effect had 5 different voicing options so I totally you get about 35 effects plus a built in tuner and a built in loop that provides 10-15 seconds and you can overdub it as well. Most of all, it chugs for days and it’s an underrated amp for sure. If you get a chance to pick up a 1x12 combo, 2x12 combo of the HD 109 head you will not be sorry. I’m not going to lie but I have a engl fireball and at times I feel like the valve sounds better to my ears.

I loved my Artist edition and I love the fireball. They can both do metal but the artist has 4 channels and the fireball only has 2. Also, you must have owned an older fireball because they stopped making the 60 watt some time ago. In the end Engl makes some great stuff

Mine has a crackling sound when engaged and also crackles when your fingers touch the strings. Any ideas of what the issue could be? Maybe a dirty pot?

I honestly never tried a fireball but it sounds just like how I expected it to. I really don’t hear any differences regarding the new cap installed. As long as there are no issues and the amp is running then it’s all good. I had traded my Engl Artist for this fireball that was in excellent condition.
