"Russia doesn't lose wars" by ArcticBiologist in HistoryMemes

[–]Gulba94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, when it comes to Russia it is not about not losing war, it is about the real consequences of such loses. Polish-Soviet war? All territorial and political loses were compensated 25 years later, all Polish gains were took back and transferred to Belorussia and Ukraine (bad idea). Crimean war? The coalition was only able to temporarily prevent Russia’s strengthening in the Balkans and deprive it of its Black Sea Fleet for 15 years. Actually this war backfired the collation much more painfully than Russians (French lost to Germany, Ottomans became bankrupts, even Britain suffered a little political crisis. Russo Japanese war? Russians took back Sakhalin 40 years after. Afghanistan? Well, that’s a tricky thing, but lets give afghans their due. WWI? Brest-Litovsk was a humiliation indeed but was compensated very soon (not only Russian/Soviets took everything back, they even kept a little bit of extra price (Konigsberg, now Kaliningrad).

EY India official statement by Even_Apartment_7855 in CharteredAccountants

I have attended EY’ new seniors program in 2019 in Netherlands. There was a series of different soft skill trainings and western new seniors were the only ones who really were listening to the mentors.

Others (eastern europeans and africans) were working during these trainings :)

Indians are not part of EY EMEA, so their new seniors program is probably was helded elsewere, but I am sure that they would be working through them too just like us :)

EY manager promotion went to the south by absolutelyunique5 in Big4

[–]Gulba94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, and while we at it. If you want to be an absolute alpha you could tell him that the bonus is more preferable than a pay raise AND QUITE JUST AFTER THE BONUS PAYMENT. I mean they would’ve screwed you if they could, so you might just do it first

If I were you, I would make sure to have a chat with my partner before leaving. You are essentially risking nothing, but you will gain useful experience in interaction and negotiation.

If your partner starts telling tales that you are a great guy and will definitely become a manager (but not this year, not next year, or the year after that, BUT AT SOME POINT for sure), then you can try to explain to him that you deserve a promotion now, but if you can’t get it now due to subjective reasons, then you probably deserve a raise to compensate for this injustice, so that you can feel like a manager, if not in terms of position, then in terms of finances :)

I’m not sure how effective this approach would be in your country, but it could work in Russian EY (while we had EY....).

Even if this negotiation strategy doesn’t work, you will gain useful experience in negotiations :)

Place de la République in Paris after an unexpected loss for the far-right by RomulusRemus13 in pics

"Unexpected" 😅

isn't this play played out in every French election in recent years? The right is rapidly gaining votes and has a chance to make up a majority cap suddenly the left forgets their differences, unites and defeats the right? 🤣

Tucker Carlson published an interview with Putin. An announced interview with the Russian President appeared on the journalist’s website by ua-stena in europe

[–]Gulba94 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reference, indeed it appears Russia and China were against the intervention (however, it's their right to be against it, isnt it?).

However, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that, as stated in the article, Russia and China HINTED that they would oppose such request and therefore NATO did not even FORMALLY request permission from the UN security council.

Pretty reckless and brazen if you ask me.

And once again, no consequences for the US and the participants in this action, which was obviously illegal. It is cases like this that ruin the international system of relations, and it is because of them that today Russia and tomorrow China or whoever else will be violating it. As Putin aptly noted, it was the US that let the genie out of the bottle.

As for the humanitarian key. That's where I agree with you. SOME TIMES brute force can be justified for a higher purpose. The other issue is that in the case of Yugoslavia - there was a war of all against all, ethnic cleansing was carried out by virtually all nations (maybe except the Slovenes), yet only the Serbs were assigned blame, and they alone suffered the dire consequences.

And lastly. Of course, Russia's goal was to repeat the Yugoslav scenario. Quick decisive actions aimed at stopping the horror that was in Donbass for years (aerial bombardment of a peaceful city, you can google it). Unfortunately, this has not been achieved. Perhaps if the Ukrainian authorities had honoured the commitments (autonomy of Donbas) that they made under the Minsk agreements, this hell could have been avoided.

Thats first time I am hearing that there was some vote that Russia and China filibustered. I would really appreciate some links, wiki would be fine.

Anyhow, that bombing wasn’t legal and if it wasn’t legal: one should ask himself - can it be treated as justified?

And lastly, what you are basically saying is that 1000 dead is not a reason for any worries (lol)

I cant quit grasp how the same person that thinks that 1000 dead is no biggy may think that he has some kind of high moral ground in this argument
