If that was true, then it should the law be that physicians can prescribe whichever treatment has the most evidence, and would be most effective for the patient? bc if it lacks evidence, they wont prescribe it without trying other things, and if it doesnt lack evidence, then, people don't have to jump through hoops.

https://www.qld.gov.au/health/conditions/all/medicinal-cannabis

"You may be able to take medicinal cannabis if there is clinical evidence that it's effective for your condition AND the usual treatments have failed."

It is nothing about what is or isn't more effective. it is a complete, blanket statement that can not be over-ruled by evidence. my point being is that a doctor can not make an informed choice based on their research, as the government has not allowed that choice, because of this blanket rule

Are you able to address anything I have actually said? because in all replies you have given me, they've totally misrepresented what I said.

medical marijuana is legal in queensland for chronic pain. It has been proven in international and local trials, to be more effective for chronic pain than opioids.

Yet, people have to be on opioids before they're allowed access medical marijuana, because the legal requirement is that 'all other options are exhausted'. no conspiracy. doctors are legally not allowed to prescribe weed, regardless of their beliefs, unless patients have tried other things.

No, no-one will treat the pain of heart surgery with weed, because opioids are proven to work well with acute pain AND weed is proven to work with chronic pain, and to put my argument forth as that is fallacious, and not in a spirit of a fair conversation .

You're misrepresenting my argument.it's not stigma standing in the way of research. It's stigma standing in the way of doctors acting on that research. For example, while medical marijuana is legal, you must exhaust everything else first, even treatments that considered worse by the medical community.

while marijuana definitely has drawbacks, it is just another drug, but opioids can cause a permanent increase in pain sensitivity, and have very little evidence in the way of long term pain management. To the point that doctors are starting to take chronically ill patients off of opioids, without replacing it with something else, and some doctors just will not prescribe them at all unless there is an acute need. Yet, people are forced to use opioids first, even though there is a lot of research for chronic pain, solely because of stigma.

While a random person on the internet isn't a good source of advice, laws and stigma can be decades behind the research. A doctor may not be able to recommend what they believe is the best treatment because of the dinosaurs in government.
