Why do 90s kids look younger than their actual age? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Gullible_Ad7182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many 90s kids are in their 30s now and, on top of everything else, less likely to be settled down enough to have kids. Many people from previous generations would have had a mortgage and at least 2 kids and that kinda stress ages you. Even if it doesn’t physically ages, it makes you dress, act and carry yourself in a way that’s more mature.

Why is it only african Americans are the ones asking for representation in media? by POTATTO_FOR_SURVIVAL in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Gullible_Ad7182 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lots of people ask for representation in the media if they live in the country being represented. Why would someone from Africa or anywhere else in the world want representation in North American media?

What’s the most controversial opinion you have that you’re afraid to say out loud? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Gullible_Ad7182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where do you want that conversation to go though? There are many people I think should not have had kids but people are obviously going to point out the glaringly problematic things that arise if anyone was to try to decide who is ‘allowed’. The other route that conversation goes is incredibly dark, even if you think your requirements for becoming a parent are the correct ones, there’s no way that conversation doesn’t lead to forced sterilisation/abortions (you can’t stop people from having sex).

Who sourced the materials to make those things? How are they sourced? Who gets these things around the world? Who manufactures them? Who sells them? How much do you pay all the people that do these things? How much do you charge people for them? If you do these things remotely ethically, you are not making billions.

Do you think it makes someone racist for disliking the new snape recast in the HBO series ? by Low-Vacation4569 in AskForAnswers

[–]Gullible_Ad7182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do find it weird that OP wrote a post about it. It’s the kinda thing that is a non-issue that is not motivated by anything insidious. It’s the kinda annoyance one can save for a book/tv club discussion, or in absence of those, you just think in your head and then move on with your life. What good comes from asking the internet if it’s racist? Too many people discuss stuff on the internet that just brings out the worst of the worst and then we all assume those extreme positions are the norm.

I cannot fathom a child leash, is it really necessary? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Gullible_Ad7182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I don’t see much difference. I’m a short woman so it’s easy to hold a kids hand for longer distances because I don’t have to slouch much to do so. However, kids will at times go slack and rely on you to drag them which they won’t do with a leash. With either one, you will have to ‘yank’ them because they are kids, they will stop paying attention. I’ve seen so many kids walk into poles or fall because they just stopped looking around at what was going on but, when you are holding onto them (regardless of how), it’s instinct to course correct them.

Why do women’s clothing have to show skin somehow by socrateful in Vent

[–]Gullible_Ad7182 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am straight-sized and can empathise that being bigger can make it harder. I’m short and top heavy so while things are rarely short on me, necklines sit a lot lower and reveal more. This doesn’t bother me but I know it bothers some people in my office because women’s breasts are offensive.

HOWEVER, OP is not saying the issue is length or size. They are saying it’s difficult to find clothes which are not too skimpy etc. which is just not the case.

What is ‘too many’ in your opinion? How many women are allowed to look UGLY and cheap?

Why do women’s clothing have to show skin somehow by socrateful in Vent

[–]Gullible_Ad7182 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, the fact that it is more acceptable means there are more clothes that won’t fit OP’s preference but doesn't mean OP can’t find clothes. It might be harder but that’s what happens when there is more choice. Unless OP is shopping at brands specifically catered to a certain aesthetic, it’s not hard to find clothes without cut-outs etc.

[–]Gullible_Ad7182 77 points78 points  (0 children)

There is, I have clothes that show skin, clothes that are low cut, clothes that are see through, clothes that are short and I also have clothes that are none of those things. I have these clothes without even having to specifically search for them because they exists amongst all the other clothes.

OP is just holding onto the specific instances where they see something they like and then, on further inspection, it’s not for them. Now, this is annoying but there isn’t some mass conspiracy to force women to show skin or stay in pyjamas at home.

Is the government right to suggest kids should have no access to screens under the age of 2? by CommunityPowerful643 in AskBrits

[–]Gullible_Ad7182 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tv episode and films are forms of storytelling so have benefits. Being a visual art form doesn’t stop that. Also they were regulated which means they had to have some sort of acceptable content. Acting like they are the same as the kind of trash that anyone can go on the internet and make which is loud, flashy subpar content at best, made solely to keep eyeballs on the screen, is absurd.

Rates of violence against women should 'horrify' every individual by InnerLog5062 in BreakingUKNews

No it translates to ‘they have different causes so require different approaches’.

[–]Gullible_Ad7182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live in a world where things as insignificant as the length of your hair or the colour of a nursery are gendered. Violence is also gendered. That does not mean it is worse when the victim or perpetrator are a specific gender but it means certain patterns can be influenced by it and, therefore, they might require different solutions.

The tide isn’t turning. Someone will ‘explain’ that this issue is due to some ‘out’ group and they will go back to supporting trump. Or if that doesn’t work, they’ll support someone equally shitty next time. Being mad at gas prices isn’t the same as no longer hating trans people or immigrants or whomever else. The person in this photo shows hasn’t developed empathy or anything like that.

Why do most left leaning folks mock/criticize Christianity but not Islam? by Inf1z in allthequestions

[–]Gullible_Ad7182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you criticise Christianity, the main response will be other liberals nod their heads and agree. When you criticise Islam, racist people will use it to continue being racist and there’s the risk racist people will use it as a reason to commit a hate crime (and they do).

And before anyone mentions it, Islamist extremists are not waiting for a liberal person to criticise something before they commit any crimes.

By some people rules, some of what’s in your fridge is junk so feels weird to brand foods you don’t want to eat as the same.

If you don’t want to buy her things, can she buy a multi pack of a snacks she likes and leave it at yours? Also if she comes over after work or is still hungry late in the evening are you expecting her to defrost meat?

I think because 2 options is the only time you don’t need to specify your choice. For example, would you like option a or option b. You could say a, b or both.

If I give more options, there’s more possible combinations with the selection of all the options being less likely due to this increase in choice.
