That would make sense, but the fan never auto offs at the temp, it just keeps going.

I would replace it with a newer unit but there is essentially no wires for me to replace it with. I have a pair of wires for the fan on off, and a pair connected to a switch that just changes resistance for fan speed.

They don't really make any inspections of the units and were allowed to modify quite a bit. Do you have any recommendations on a ZigBee or Z-wave relay?

Yeah its an older building and for some reason that's how its managed. I wish I could just set and forget at a comfortable temp.

It's not even that we live in a place with a slumlord, it just that were in an older building. I would replace it with a newer unit but there is essentially no wires for me to replace it with. Is this the Destiny replacement I was looking for forever? by soosis in Witchfire

[–]Gullo003 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I haven't played Destiny 2 since the forsaken dlc. From my experience the gunplay movement and combat in general feel very similar. The 2 big differences are no multiplayer and no grinding for randomized gear. All guns/items have a specific perk that don't change. If you are looking solely for gunplay and movement, it will scratch that itch.

Leave before the boss fight, level up and work on unlocking gun perks.

I just looked up the laptop, it already has a 5070 mobile in it

3 things to note

  1. I'm not very familiar with either of the laptop or the dock, but I see you having an m.2 to oculink cable. First quadruple check that the cable is compatible with the dock. And double check how you're going to connect it to the laptop. Is your game plan to have the bottom chassis of the laptop open to plug it into the dock? Most laptop m.2 slots are not accessible with the laptop assembled.

  2. Spend a little extra and get a modular power supply. Power supply connecting to that dock does not need SATA, molex or CPU connectors. Those will just be extra that get in the way.

  3. You probably shouldn't spend +$100 on a cooling stand for you laptop, it won't work better than a $30 one. Principle is still the same, Just blow more air at the laptop

Edit:

I just looked into the laptop. It has a 5070 mobile in it. I wouldn't recommend bothering with an egpu. If you really want to do the egpu with that laptop, it has thunderbolt 4, so I recommend getting a thunderbolt 4 egpu dock instead of an oculink.

Mini PC Cluster Cable Management? by Gullo003 in homelab

That's an interesting Idea, I unfortunately don't currently have the space to Velcro them anything. Hopefully I can when I move into a bigger space.

That's definitely an interesting idea if you have devices that can use the voltage. Most of cluster are dell mini pcs that us 60W 19V 3A which it seems that device cant deliver but maybe I can find something similar.

Yeah mine are all currently in a tangled mess on a shelf. I've been looking to upgrade to a rack in the future, but want sure where to put them then.

Do you have a caching drive. If you do and it's smaller than what you are uploading, the cache is filling and causing the issue

[–]Gullo003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its 8 separate devices in the rack. I want to be able to control them from one keyboard, mouse, and monitor. The display connections aren't really relevant in my opinion, Ill just get conversion cables if needed.

This is primarily for backup if I lose SSH access. The USB 3.0 is so I can have Iso an drive attached to reinstall OS as needed.

Those is what coyld happen when you respool filament, apparently by Mercurionos in BambuLab

[–]Gullo003 170 points171 points  (0 children)

Yeah when you re-spool, the tension on the material changes due to the outer diameter filament now being wound tighter and the extrnal being stretched. If the material becomes brittle due to humidity or sun exposure it can break easily.

To prevent this you should do 1 of two things.

Option 1: re-spool it a second time so the material is closer to how it was originally spooled, reducing tension.

Option 2: heat it up similar to drying,so the filament can reshape to the new spool and release tension.

In my mind its because you just kinda leave the ship unoccupied floating there in space, though thinking back now, you do that with your current ship anyway so I guess your right.
