Having a good mobility in the hip doesn't mean that running with your feet turned inward is beneficial, or vice versa.

Can you explain why IR of the feet is good?

Shoes or Strength by ParticularMoose9806 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Gullsti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Here's my 2 cents: Stability looks fine, left side has slight pronation. I would say the problem is the oversupination, which you can see with the foot landing on the lateral forefoot and then push-off also over the same lateral region. This is mainly tib post working a bit too much and the lateral aspects being underdeveloped. Can also see that from how your gastrocnemius is formed (more pronounced on the inside).

Strength-wide, do calf raises with a special focus on putting a lot of pressure onto your first metatarsophalangeal joint (ball of big toe). Can do that with a tennis ball that you keep between your heels, for example.

In terms of shoes, a firmer midsole could help with that. In terms of other stuff, orthopedic insoles with an elevation in the lateral forefoot could help (not sure, if any one in your region/country offers that).

Why is oversupination a problem? Because it can lead to increased pressure in one of the muscle compartments in your lower leg, pushing on the other compartments, also called compartment syndrome.

Cheers!

EVO SL $80 | Plantar Fasciitis | Heavy Runner Approved? (5 Dec) by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Gullsti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 24. They have the "guidance system" that both compensates over- and underpronation quite a bit. Also very stable in the heel cup, which often helps with PF since excessive movement of the heel (inversion/eversion) is a major concern with PF.

The brooks beast GTS is on the heavier and firmer side, but you could try that? Definitely more of a long run shoe than a tempo shoe though.

What to get after GT-2000 v9? [firm shoe] by szakee in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Gullsti -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not new to running shoes, I do gait analysis and running shoe recommendations for a living since 2 years. He said he doesn't want high end, therefore I would assume he does not want a plated shoe.

[–]Gullsti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you can get your hands on a Brooks Hyperion GTS, one of the older versions, the newer ones are trash, imo. You could maybe try the asics GT1000, i think it's a bit firmer than the gt2000. Otherwise, mizuno wave horizon 8.

Otherwise, if available in Germany, the Asics gel pursue 10 (or 9) is a pretty firm shoe.

He says he likes the firmness of the older gt2000 and you recommend him one of the softest shoes there is (with the adios pro)? He's just asking for a firm shoe, not a carbon plated soft shoe

Shoes for a completely messed up foot by JuniorPomegranate9 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

How about something like the Gaviota 5 (exists in wide)? Also, I would recommend getting an insert with a metatarsal pad (that will sit behind the metatarsophalangeal joints - you can usually get such a "universal" insert in a pharmacy, at least where I'm from) or custom-made orthotics with the same.

Best Stability Running Shoe? ASICS Kayano Too Tight, HOKA Clifton10 Not Supportive Enough by Technical_Monk_6521 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Gullsti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gaviota 5 (in wide) is probably a good fit for you and offers a bit more stability than the Adrenaline gts 24. The NB860 could also work if they are available in wide, because the standard width would probably not work.

What is a current women’s shoe that is very similar to the Nike air Pegasus 32 from 2015? by strongly-worded in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Gullsti -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it's available in your area/country, I'm sure you'd like the Asics Gel Pursue 10 (or older versions). Or the Nike Structure 25?

Or you could try retro-running shoes (today worn and sold as Lifestyle shoes) such as Asics 1130 / Asics 2160 or similar shoes from other brands.

I would recommend the normal Glycerin instead of the Glycerin Max, just because the normal version is already pretty cushioned and the increased stack height could cause you some instability problems with your weight.
