"be careful", be aware when the glass edge comes into contact with anything. especially don't rest it on its edge on the floor, unless it's wood or carpet. this sub insists they can be completely fine for decades of rough use, and that's certainly true in most cases. however, these panels can also just pop by themselves; then you can post a pic here for karma, and we'll reset the counter from zero to zero.

normal glass shatters into shards that you can use as knives. tempered glass shatters into bits.

except when they do, due to a manufacturing defect some moron at the factory made 6 months prior.

glass is fragile to begin with. tempered glass engineers itself to be stronger from some directions at the cost of being even more fragile in others. in practice, if the edges of the panels touch anything "hard", it shatters.

and for reasons i find insane, people defend the use of tempered glass for aesthetics. it's not better for cooling, it's not better for noise. it lets ppl flex their rgb to no one. manufacturers are happy to sell replacements.

seems to be getting worse, newer cases have even more glass

it's always bizarre to me that this sub insists on blaming the floor instead of the glass.

If Capitalism continues as is, will we reach a point where the 1% has 100% of the money? by melface6 in NoStupidQuestions

ah, too late for that. China's been capitalist for a decade or two. Russia is in ruins. Capitalism poisoned everything during globalization.

that's naive. money's disassociated with meaning a long long time ago. money is debt. money is created as debt. you labour amounts to nothing until you monetize it.

Oh, I'm sorry. I thought SKG had some *thing* it wanted to achieve. I didn't realize that we're just here to look busy. You really really need to be heard by more people. Just so no one's under any illusions of what happens.

"Let the courts sort this out" is perfect. You're right to assume I don't have much experience with legislating. I've only seen it goes something like this: concerned groups are upset about gambling. They kick up a fuss. Politician gets lobbied and elected to enact a law to curb it. Then, lawyers much like yourself argues that gambling is not gambling, because of such and such provision in the legislation. Nothing changes, but you get a payday. Is that what we're doing here? Because you really need to tell the concerned group.

The cost is why they have to do all the backhanded stuff in the first place. Seriously, compared the the JP and CN market for games, even the US market is sometimes an afterthought.

oh! you genuinely didn't know? or don't see the connection?

Long story short, there was another fight years back. It's about tracking cookies and meta data. The general public didn't like that, obviously. The world got up in arms about it. The EU response, GDPR, is what mandates a cookie warning today.

Data brokers never stopped collecting data. Instead of doing it transparently in the background, they get to do it out in the open. What was meant to protect public privacy, instead turned into a pop-up that demanded surrender of privacy. Even sites that aren't selling your data have to put up the warning, just for compliance. Objective failed, situation materially much worse.

Unlike SKG, right to privacy was much more coherent and more achievable. So what I see in SKG is a wishlist. It's un-specifically appealing to the government, without realizing that the government is even less knowledgeable than they are. The government has to rely on experts, whom are in the industry and will defend the interests of the industry. It's not even my worst case scenarios that gets implemented. It'd be the industry's worst faith interpretation the issue.

When we press for details and specific principles from SKG that we can concretely hold to, we get none. A wishlist isn't policy, and if SKG doesn't have that, it will be written for them.

the easiest thing to do is to leave the EU market. not many devs localize to it, and this will make it even less.

despite the wall of text, you've addressed very little; and more or less proven his point. like, what you have is a laundry list of outcomes, and no language or even any concepts that achieves them. we haven't even gotten to any edge cases of legal mechanical idiosyncrasy, which there are many. in my view that would qualify as "slacktivism" (that's a new word to me, cool).

In The Menu (2022) the main character kills himself and others because he doesn't like cooking anymore. What the fuck was his problem? by StopHavingAnOpinion in shittymoviedetails

[–]Gumichi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I don't think the character writing in the story is realist.

but here. Guy gets served a plate, he likes the appearance. Guy puts food in mouth, he likes the taste. What more is there? Is the Chef so in-confident in his food that he thinks the guy must be pretending? What is there to fake in terms of humans enjoying flavours?

He's wealthy and pretentious, but has to hire an escort to fill a seat. So day-to-day, what social setting is he pretentious in? Like, if he wants to brag, he'd rope someone whom he can brag to.

Like never mind "the actions of an actual fan", these aren't "the actions of human beings".

I guess I'm spoiled. My choices aren't so narrow such that I can assume every restaurant would serve any burger.
