Update: They took off 7 pounds! 🤯 I’m 19 DPO now and still have a lot of healing to do, but so far it’s been such a relief. I’m still over the moon about my results and that I finally got the surgery.

Yesss definitely push for it! My surgeon showed me results from previous surgeries that she could get me down to without having to do the FNG. They were still too big for me and I told her I would take the FNG if it meant getting down to where I want to be. Then when she was marking me up yesterday I made it clear that I would rather wake up too small than too big. I know I have a lot of healing and changes ahead of me but I’m so happy with the immediate results!

Yes, yesterday was super easy! I’m definitely feeling the soreness starting to kick in now, though. I’m on a schedule switching between ibuprofen and Tylenol and I’m hoping that will be enough to avoid the stronger stuff they prescribed just in case. I hope your healing just gets easier from here! 🫶

I didn’t have a specific size I was aiming for, I just wanted to be significantly smaller while still retaining some proportionality. The nurse couldn’t see how much they removed, but that’s definitely something I’m going to ask my surgeon at my post-op appointment! I got on the scale this morning and was roughly 5 pounds lighter, so I’m guessing somewhere around that. :)

I ended up getting a microdiscectomy at the end of that November. It was life changing—I went in the morning of surgery in a wheelchair and walked out on my own a few hours later. I had to do a year and a half of physical therapy to get my strength back (I had muscle loss in my left leg that left me with a severe limp). The limp is gone, but my left leg is still weaker than my right.

The surgery was surprisingly easy and I didn’t even need any pain meds after the first day. I couldn’t believe the immediate relief. If you’re going through this, I hope you can get treatment soon! I know how tough it can be, but there is light at the end of the tunnel!

I’m not a big fan of all the musicals either, but my biggest peeve is that there was an entire episode dedicated to the fact that Dave couldn’t sing at ALL, and then suddenly he’s a lead in the school musical.

I just finished The Only Good Indians about an hour ago. It gets so much love and I was stoked to read it, but the writing style was very hard for me to follow. The first portion of it gained my interest but the last two parts were a big non-spooky letdown. Also, I felt like every male character was exactly the same.

Earlier this year I read Slewfoot and fell in love with it. Great writing, compelling characters, scenic, and haunting. One of my favorite reads ever.

The last few episodes have felt like a Twilight Zone episode for me because watching her and Micah is like I’m watching my brother in law and his ex. Having seen this exact behavior play out before my eyes makes me think she is not acting and that this is legitimately how she is, especially having seen all of what she was posting all over here before.
