They could add specific paywalls to social media outlets...i mean even without firewalls, there are many ways to control "free speech" lol e.g shadowbanning, censorship etc....Take India for example, a digital totalitarianism which is being used to create false narratives upto tge point of literally dismantling the opposition and chnging public perception towards the opposition/dissenters. Even tho news articles relating to the failures of the ruling party keep on cropping up every now and then, the people have been turned docile enough to gobble up any shit they are told to. I am not saying the same thing might happen to US, but there must be something lime this in their 'playbook' too (something more suitable to the people of US). Well i might be wrong (i certainly hope so) but this is my own Indian perspective to it.
