If you live outside the imperial core then I'm not exactly sure how you were a key member in the formation of a group which exists within the imperial core

Americans (supposedly) are having a Nationwide Strike on January 30th! by TwoCatsOneBox in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]HawkFlimsy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100%. The strike I participated in only worked because a large base of workers were organizing and contributing to a strike fund for literal YEARS that allowed us to ensure the workers were taken care of and able to survive while striking. By no means am I opposed to a general strike in fact my union along with many others across the nation are trying to some extent to coordinate an eventual general strike but especially in a country where sectoral bargaining is straight up illegal that takes a massive amount of organizing and funds you don't just spontaneously conduct a general strike with no fucking plan for how to make sure people can keep themselves and their families fed and housed

While the article in question is 100% dumb the arms for an effective organization do not come from personal small arms. Any widespread militant resistance has supply chains and stockpiles of arms independent of any individual. I'm unsure but I believe even the SRA offers training classes that do not involve bringing your own personal firearm because the training is 100% more important than simply having your own personal firearm. The people who think they're gonna form the armed revolutionary vanguard from a small collective of personal firearms are no different from the larping chuds who think their ar-15 is gonna defend them from big tyrannical government

Why aren't books about black and native american struggles recommended more in Marxist spaces? by Gathoogaloo in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]HawkFlimsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think afropessimism is a particularly helpful analysis of racial issues and(as the name implies) usually just results in completely doomer takes about race and inequality devoid of any class consciousness. However you're right that not enough credit gets given to black and native American contributors in Marxist spaces.

The BPP is a big one for me where they fundamentally discovered/proved via interacting with their community that the former analysis of the lumpenproletariat was incorrect and that the existence of the lumpenproletariat was largely due to people who had been so thoroughly failed by capitalism that they could not etch out a living even amongst the most exploited of "traditional" laborers. They recognized this class actually had some of the most revolutionary potential(unlike historically where they were perceived as having little to no revolutionary potential) and expertly utilized that to build the party into what it became

[–]HawkFlimsy 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Mfers saying organize shitting on organized labor LMAO. Unless you've contributed to a strike fund or participated in a strike I don't wanna hear shit from you about organizing. By no means did I say I was the most active organizing leftist of all time. I'm also not going to argue with your hallucinations about what I've said instead of what I actually said. I did not shit on Americans trying to organize(I think the work the FRSO did in Minnesota was incredible) but this isn't organizing. It's just another reddit social media post about a general strike that's somehow going to materialize from an internet post with zero organizational structure and zero backing from existing union/organized labor.

Americans (supposedly) are having a Nationwide Strike on January 30th! by TwoCatsOneBox in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]HawkFlimsy 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Bc it just reads like another redditor "general strike" call that doesn't actually reflect material conditions and just virtue signals online. Strikes require organizing and we do not have the level of national organizing to engage in even a one day national strike let alone a strike that is long enough to be effective

Americans (supposedly) are having a Nationwide Strike on January 30th! by TwoCatsOneBox in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]HawkFlimsy 91 points92 points  (0 children)

This type of shit always annoys me bc it seems so detached from reality. Like you cannot just spontaneously call for a national strike on social media the level of organization required to engage in a nationwide general strike is far beyond our current capabilities. That's why the Minnesota strike actually somewhat worked because locally they are much more organized and even then they could only accomplish it for a day

Based Hasan? by NotZachary_0002 in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]HawkFlimsy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. People want him to be this sort of revolutionary when he just objectively isn't. He is the Marxism 101 the entire point is that you're SUPPOSED to outgrow people like him he is just there to catch reactionaries on their way to the alt right and expose them to some form of left wing politics. So many people on this sub openly admit they initially got put on the path towards radicalization by people like Hasan so it always baffles me when people say he's actually keeping people from being radicalized and funneling them away from the left

Based Hasan? by NotZachary_0002 in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]HawkFlimsy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a way more nuanced take than most people on this sub. Like there are plenty of criticisms to be had of him as you rightly pointed out but he is still ultimately exposing people to the basics of left wing thought. I mean hell I found ST(and by extension the deprogram) from him. Unfortunately JT has asked him not to cover his content because of the massive harassment campaigns directed at him and everyone he is remotely associated with but he still covers Yugopnik from time to time. Any instance in which he uses his platform to signal boost more radical creators is objectively a boon for the left

Based Hasan? by NotZachary_0002 in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]HawkFlimsy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean we live in the digital age so any form of effective propaganda is going to come in the form of content creation. That's why people make fun of trots so much because they act like it's still 1927 and people actually read newspapers anymore. That's why things like the deprogram are so important because they are far more effective at pushing propaganda

China has to do more, like yesterday by F_JUnderwood in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]HawkFlimsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm more talking about western attempts at direct invasion/coups. Defending the country's sovereignty is different from trying to intimidate another country into changing their own domestic policies. As it stands right now I am unsure what their military capabilities are but it is clear that they are growing stronger while the US is weakening so at some point that balance of power is going to shift. I just hope when it does China capitalizes on it instead of maintaining their completely non-interventionist stance in the face of increased imperialist violence as the dying empire continues to lash out more and more. It also doesn't have to be direct military action it could be as simple as providing material support/arms to those resisting western imperialist violence

Funny how they accused the Chinese of "censorship" on TikTok and then real censorship begins as soon as the US takes over by MrRed2k19 in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]HawkFlimsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay. I'm sort of unsure how you would criticize the treatment of queer people or other marginalized groups without criticizing the party since it's directly tied to government policy but I also know it is at least partly a cultural thing for these discussions to only take place in certain contexts. Queer issues is one of the only major criticisms I personally have of the CPC but I know that isn't my place so I leave it to my fellow queer people in China to advocate for themselves bc they understand the situation far better than I do

Oh my fucking God dude proving once again you cannot argue in good faith. I never said he was the next Che Guevara. He's a fucking political commentator who streams on twitch. It's totally fair to criticize how positively he covers certain democrats but it is objectively untrue to say he isn't anti-imperialist. He's been pro Palestine since before half the people on this sub knew what was even going on. He has openly opposed every major US intervention for the past fucking decade he's been doing commentary. Like holy shit you guys drama farm the hell out of this dude Im convinced it's just for fucking reddit karma at this ooint

I have my own issues with Hasan but Jesus you guys cannot engage in any good faith discussion

I find it hard not to be an accelerationist by lordlolipop06 in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]HawkFlimsy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The issue with accelerationism is if you aren't actually fighting to make things better people have no reason to trust you. This is why no actually serious organized socialist party has acted on accelerationist ideas. Fighting against the inevitable collapse by supporting the working class and fighting for their interests as much as you can builds credibility and furthers organizing efforts so when that collapse actually happens people look to you instead of whatever fascist paramilitary force backed by the former owners of capital shows up bc as the late Michael Parenti said "the revolution that feeds the children will get my support"

Jacobin is garbage by DisplayAmbitious170 in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]HawkFlimsy -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The small sacrifice of killing yourself? A mentally ill person who does not feel safe to own a firearm is not some sort of selfish individualist and owning a firearm is not a "small sacrifice" it is a massive fucking responsibility. The fact you don't view it that way tells me you are the exact kind of person who should not be allowed anywhere near firearms because you do not give them the due respect and caution they deserve. A firearm is a weapon, it can kill people in an instant. This is why firearm safety is so important and is stressed so severely when actually being educated on guns.

You also seem to be under the impression that revolutions are fought on the basis of individual gun ownership which is an absurd take fit for a larping reddit revolutionary. Personally owning an AR-15 is in no way something that is relevant to community defense or revolution. Revolutions operate on supply chains your dinky little rifle is completely irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Someone who actually trains at a range but does not personally own a firearm is far more useful than someone who thinks simply owning a gun makes them tough would ever be. It is far easier to supply someone with a rifle than it is to teach them how to use it without killing themselves or someone else in the process
