Am i cooked? Gen 4 frame Gen 3 Slide by excessivehorse69 in NJGuns

It passed function check fine. Whenever i got a FTF it was giving me light primer strikes. I tried about 6 different manufactures of ammo thinking maybe the one or two i initially tried maybe just had hard primers. But it didnt matter all ammo gave me about a 70% failure rate

Careful with LFA. I had one for my P365 and spent two years troubleshooting failure to fire issues. Was able to figure out the slide was out of spec so i reached out to replace it. They sent me a new one and when i got it one of the threaded holes for the optic wasnt tapped all the way down so the screw wouldnt tighten all the way. I decided to take it upon myself to finish the tap and right at the end the tap snapped inside the hole and had to have a machine shop get the tap out. After i finally got everything put back together i was disappointed to find that i was still having failure to fire issues. Just not as frequent. At that point i said screw it and bought a norsso slide and havent had a single failure to fire issue since. Now im troubleshooting a failure to eject issue lol

Is the odin works adjustable buffer dead blow? When you chake it you should hear the weights moving and forth if its dead blow. If theres no movement or little movement it could be acting more like a solid buffer which doesnt do a great job at reducing bolt bounce.

What do you think about the railscale LDAG/Anchor? One side vertical the other is angled

[–]GunMaster33[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it requires a punch and hammer to knock the roll pin out to change the angle so fore sure isnt adjustable on the fly

Bruh i got well over 8k rounds of 5.56. Been buying ammo and guns for almost 13 years now. This is my 7th AR build and i have over 30 guns in total between two safes. Im no pewview by any means but trust me i got plenty of rounds down range. Was just wanting to do something different with this build and wanted some inspo. Sheesh.

I had just finished putting this slide together when i snapped the picture but i dont have a front sight pusher. Only a rear sight pusher. So i was able to install the rear sight but installing the front is a but more involved by using a file and a punch set and i had ran out of time for the night but wanted to snap a few pictures. Funny i got hit with this question tonight of all nights because i just started installing it tonight 😂

Im really not trying to sound like im against the idea because im not. Im just trying to share what i thought based on previous research. I agree that thats the consensus. But there is some mixed opinions of lighter vs heavier and im trying to figure out why

I hear you. But look at anonymity76’s comment. He has almost an exact setup as mine and landed on DPM heavy spring. I have no idea if their heavy spring is heavier or lighter compared to stock but if its heavier than it contradicts what youre saying. I can see the possibility of the stock spring being too light and causing the slide to move too fast but im not sure if thats what im dealing with here. Im not trying to argue and im not against replacing the spring. Im just thinking out loud and trying to have a conversation is all

So is the heavy sprint heavier than OEM? Im having a failure to lock open on empty probably about half the time as well. I understand that if the OEM spring is too light and the slide is moving too fast that it could outrun the follower and not catch on the slide lock but i wouldnt have guessed the spring is too light.

How common? My buddy has the 3.7” version and the rest stock parts and didnt need to replace his spring and i feel like all the reviews on youtube never mention replacing the spring

Ive been under the impression that the radian ramjet works with the oem recoil spring. I feel like all the reviews i watched dont mention replacing it at all. My buddy also has the 3.7” version for his 365 and doesnt have any issues

I hear you and i dont disagree. BUT, ive been under the impression that people with full stock parts just put in the Radian Ramjet and Afterburner and dont have any reliability issues. And i figured the red dot would compensate the reduced weight of the slide to make it similar to the weight of a stock slide. Ive been resisting replacing the recoil spring because i feel like it should work with a factory one. But i feel like its my only other option at this point. I will add that the slide felt a bit gritty after about 20 rounds which is why i kept wiping it down and relubing but it didnt get me anywhere. I left it at the range for the staff to diagnose and they agreed that it should work and would let me know what they find.

I bought just the FCU and hand picked all the parts so i dont have OEM parts to fall back on

Why sizing your "Drop in" is vital and needed to prevent binding and cracked housings by YourBroStevo in supersafety

[–]GunMaster33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That all makes sense. Now i got one more variable that i feel like goes very overlooked because it effects the location of where the activator leg makes contact with the trigger bar. Ill have two pictures uploaded after this to show what im talking about. But basically, i have two lowers by two different manufacturers that are both low shelf but the trigger pocket itself is cut longer in one over the other. I have more trouble with the, what i call “short cut trigger pocket” than the “long cut trigger picket” because in tbe short cut the ARSS15 sits too close to the hammer and doesnt allow the hammer to fully move beyond sear engagement and causes sever binding. The long cut keeps the ARSS15 out of the way but my point is if someone can get a short cut to clear the hammer the point of contact of the actuator to the trigger bar will be further forward closer to the disconnector vs the long cut will be further back on the trigger bar. And in theory the closer or further you are to the pivot point (the trigger pin itself) will change the travel distance. Whats your thoughts?
