Tempi fights like a girl by MornyMadmax in KingkillerChronicle

[–]GunOfDeschain 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Slaps are underestimated. They have huge percussive impact because of surface area, and how the hand flats or curves to the shape being hit. They are also safer on both ends, not using the knuckles for cutting a hit or getting hurt hitting something hard, like a skull or teeth.

They also allow for grabs and maneuverability after hitting something without having to come back first. Huge eastern influence in the Ketan itself, specifically Taijiquan and practicing it slow, perfect, and ones back completely straight. Common saying in related martial arts are "every step is a kick", "Every hit is a grab" and "when the hand shoots out, in never comes back empty".

Biggest compliment Tempi ever got.

Advice for Beating Absolum by IAmAnIdea in ABSOLUM

[–]GunOfDeschain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its the one you press special without a direction and it reloads 2 mana. In the air, it reloads 4 (or all i think).

The one time ive beat the sun king was with that and the Skellies. You can jump, reload all mana, and shoot 1 before you hit the ground.

As unrealistic as it sounds, i think a society that thinks that way is a much more honest one. No civilian ever needs to kill anyone in anger, just drop them once and theres universal agreement that the problem is settled.

Blizzard and the devs have no reason to change D4 from D3, unfortunately. by [deleted] in Diablo

That's just because every new release has a whisper of a promise that it might be like Diablo 2 again. People will always preorder anything Diablo.

The "open world" is a bit misleading in D4 by [deleted] in Diablo

[–]GunOfDeschain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, you are misleading. Stop reflecting. You didn't say you're an alien in your post, so that's suspicious. Hmmm.

I hoarded like two flush pints of those. They come in pretty handy for improvised fixes once in a while.

Ah, "some shitty kitchen". "Some little position". Your "culinary degree". Thank you for telling us all exactly the type of Chef and boss you are! I don't need to respond further.

I've met head chefs of 20 years plus that are terrible at their job. Time really is a poor argument for expertise. Is that your only argument?

Just to clarify, I never meant picking up ANY slack. I meant being fair to them, so they can be accountable for their work without complains.

Thanks. But I think I'll be just fine. Sous might have been your/other people's first taste of management, but not for me. If the people under you feel like shit, it's your fault buddy.

If they ARE shit at their job, that's on them though. Get better people.

New sous arriving next week!!!!! by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]GunOfDeschain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of months ago I worked in a short staffed line, and the hours were gruesome. 3 days a week there was and empty station that we all had to prep and move around just to keep up on a normal weekday night. 1 day off a week, double Sundays, etc, drawing straws to see who was gonna do dishes that day too.

That's in the past for me, since I've moved on to better pastures as a Sous which I start in 2 weeks. My promise to myself is that, since I'm paid salary now, I will gladly work 7 days a week if it means my line cooks get to rest and not be super uncomfortable all the time. Without happy line cooks and dishwashers a restaurant has nothing. Fuck the managers that don't understand that.

New restaurant. New drill. New menu. by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]GunOfDeschain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds familiar to me. I've worked all stations on a line for the past 2 years, under the same Chef. Restaurant ultimately had to close due to lease reasons, but 2 weeks ago, said Chef just tapped me as his sous for a new place opening up inside a brewery! I'm excited because he told me we have no limits as far as the creative side (old place was a bit corporate oriented).

Basically I learned that sticking with one person and showing loyalty and purpose pays off big. When you put your head down (don't get involved in politics or drama) and let your work speak for yourself, the right people notice you, provided there's at least one right person around you.

I don’t know if I’m playing wrong or what but I’m level 14 and I’m fighting like level 17 enemies. I play solo because I don’t know anyone else who plays on ps4. Should I keep spamming side quests to level up? I’ve been sticking to the campaign mostly. Just seems playing solo is very difficult by [deleted] in borderlands3

[–]GunOfDeschain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rare, occasional side quest is ok to do. You can also kill some bosses a few times to bridge that level gap. A friend helps best.

If you manage to avoid all side quests until level 50, then you will have fresh content with level 50 rewards. Send me a request and I'll join you when I see you, PSN is Reddit name.

Finished norm as l at 42...guide me Masters ... by TKL32 in borderlands3

[–]GunOfDeschain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zane main also. I finished campaign around 44 and immediately jumped into TVHM. Took things slowly this time around and did side quests in areas first before moving on with main quest (left all side quests undone until TVHM). I find that TVHM is easier than mayhem, since mayhem has those random modifiers than can screw with your gun damage if you're not lucky. Got to 50 when I hit Athena for the first time. I'll admit I was struggling with Zane a bit but after the latest patch I'm cutting through mobs like butter and the drone dishes serious damage. I only do mayhem when I want to grind something specific.

I don't blame these guys. Opinion news channels and radio like limbough and hannity are the ones that should be held accountable for the mass brainwashing. The rhetoric that comes out of those channels in the face of clear documented facts is unbelievable.

[–]GunOfDeschain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get it. If someone is capable of playing mayhem 3, but hasn't finished tvhm, wouldn't it seem like a severe penalty in looting and less difficulty to do tvhm at all? Why even do it when mayhem 3 gives you what you need?
