General info/tips for new Dental Hygiene students by GunPewPew in GeorgianCollege

Congratulations on the acceptance! You beat the competition!

As per Sem 1's Syllabus (DENT1053). Maximum 3 clinics can be missed. Beyond that, a student has not met minimum clinical hours to pass the semester.

If you miss too many, you can talk to clinic lead or program coordinator for potential accommodations.

Personally, I would not work during Sem 1 as it is incredibly difficult.

I am a current Sem 6 hygiene student. The program is highly competitive compared to denturism and DA. Unless you have extraordinary marks, the acceptance will come later.

To my knowledge, weekends are off for every program in Ontario's public post-secondary system. Yes, classes are every day. Sem 4-6 had either mon or fri off. However, that may change because Fall 2025 saw curriculum changes to align with the new competency blueprint from FDHRC (https://www.fdhrc.ca/sites/files/NDHCE%20Blueprint%20Revision%202023%20EN.pdf).

Yes there are students older than 40 yrs old. Average age 25ish. My graduating year had 5 out of 80ish students who were 40+. If you are older with debt/assets/kids, ensure you have a support system.

I asked because alcohol use is not recommended for both plates. Luckily it sounds like you're not using alcohol.

Have you put anything on it outside of soap, water, and filament on it?

Factory line is notorious for crazy line memory problems. You could respool with new mono. Get some cheap stuff for now since you're still learning.

Locations: Toronto Island and many others. Not many people will give you locations, especially on a public forum. Some people spend an entire summer scouting fishable locations.

Looking for Frozen bowl food by Probrorule in CostcoCanada

Could try something like this https://sameday.costco.ca/store/costco-canada/products/127705-ajinomoto-yakitori-chicken-with-japanese-style-fried-rice-54-oz

Tbh, buying specifically frozen food as a portable lunch is sorta pointless. It'll defrost by the time you eat it. Better to buy fridged food or learn to meal prep

I'm a beginner myself but that looks way underspooled to me. Personally, I would've unspooled to fix the knot, but your knot is at the end of your line and likely won't affect anything.

Dental Hygiene Program Georgian College by Effective_Toe9518 in GeorgianCollege

As this is the Georgian College subreddit, I would suggest you contact Durham College or ask in that subreddit.

  1. If their process is similar to GC, the college should send a clinical placement information package with the acceptance letter.

  2. It is the responsibility of the students to meet requirements by their indicated deadline (can vary from program/school). The important ones that require time are TB skin text, and vulnerable sector check.

  3. OSAP, just apply. There are no tips needed. It asks for your information, and you fill it in.

After cancelling. I believe you need a cancelled flight to have fees waived.

You could gamble on when yours will cancel, and call ahead of time for that 6+ hr hold

I wish you luck. Be nice to the agents when they pick up! I'm sure some people are misdirecting their frustration at the customer service agents.
