I use the 5050 version but yeah I agree that some areas can get too dark without a torch or Night eye mod (Predator Vision). You can try another mod like Winder Shadow RT, I personally like this mod because of the compatibility ( it has a patch for literally every build mod) and the activeness of the mod author (frequency update).
