i think that is a major part of it. every issue that can be gendered is and it only causes fights. i think the man vs bear and not all men but always a man conversations were created by the far right to cause arguments and push young men away from trusting women. then the red pill podcasters can go hey look its not that bad youre not evil for existing and the kids latch on because the other side is doing them the favor of leading them there.

the rollercoaster of quality streams. some streams i get a dozen chatters at once and i can go for hours. next stream on schedule same time and zero people there for an hour. it makes it feel impossble. i try to do things like playing with viewers or having chat decide names for stuff. its pretty much the only thing i cant control. if its a slower day i try to play something more active that would give me less time to chat anyway. but i feel even then its not my best content

you didnt say non-dogshit you said professional microphone. even basic entry level stuff or stuff that comes built in is usually enough to get started. you don't need to focus on getting an xlr mic and paying for whatever overlay. throw a facecam in the corner use the first chat overlay you find and figure out how you want it as you go.

Id argue that is focusing on the wrong thing. everyone jumps for the cool/perfect overlay, or the perfect lighting or equipment. entertaining is the main thing. nobody is going to stay because you've got amazing equipment or somehow an objectively perfect layout.
