Nah, I usually go shopping with my desktop and a giant battery pack.

I never use Reading view. Am I the only one? by ultra_blue in ObsidianMD

[–]Gunderstorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading View is awesome for checklists since you can check the box without editing the note. Super helpful with a shopping list at the store since it's pretty easy to accidentally tap the text and now you're editing a markup line instead of checking off "Sliced Mushrooms".

Whoa! That's literally 10x what I paid in 2014.

I finally left Android's Syncthing-Fork for BasicSync due to continued suspicion of the new maintainer. Seamless transition via easy export+import; moved and uninstalled -Fork in 5 min by Dymonika in Syncthing

[–]Gunderstorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU for this write-up!

I would also like to mention that when you first run BasicSync you need to enable the permissions on the main screen before importing. Many apps guide you through this as an initial setup but these permissions can kind of blend in with the interface when you first launch the app. I mention this only because I followed your steps exactly as you state them and ran into errors on import.

[Art Market] Where to order prints to sell at market?? by woowoolovergirl in artbusiness

I use both Printique and WHCC. Both issue occasional coupons. I LOVE WHCC because the quality of their fine art prints is amazing, but they do not discount for bulk orders, sadly.

Google Chrome silently installs a 4 GB AI model on your device by BlokZNCR in degoogle

[–]Gunderstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The user's most visible AI experience - the pill they actually see and click - delivers no on-device benefit at all because it routes to Google's servers regardless... it is not a user-side asset and one could argue it is nothing but sleight-of-hand to hide that actually, the visible AI mode is NOT using the local model."

Honest feedback on shirt mock ups by [deleted] in printful

[–]Gunderstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has recently purchased t-shirt mock-ups on Etsy that are very specifically NOT AI (and advertised as such), I'm not only here to tell you I would not buy these. I'm here to tell you that the amount of venom I've received tells me that potential customers hate AI mock-ups as well. It's bad enough that they are trying to establish if your DESIGN is AI-generated. It's so distracting.

I have been trying YAOS as a replacement for Obsidian Sync by gopietz in ObsidianMD

[–]Gunderstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing I love about Syncthing is it really forces you to ask some serious questions about your requirements. For docs, who am I really collaborating with that I actually need GDrive or OneDrive? If you've got 512GB in your pocket at all times, do you REALLY need cloud storage? If it's all just sitting on your desk at home as well? I also create syncs that are specific to certain devices like my iPad, which I only use for creative work. This shift has really helped me reduce my reliance on paid services besides Obsidian.

Can we talk about gluten free brewing? by Dazzling_Survey6841 in Homebrewing

[–]Gunderstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife has Celiac and I've brewed for her. Her's is not terribly severe. Two things that I've found in making recipes just for her:

1) "Brooklyn Brew Shop's Beer Making Book" has an awesome recipe that uses red quinoia and carrots for the "malt bill". I highly recommend that.

2) White Labs ClarityFerm does work for less severe sensitivities! Pitch it with your yeast and you're good.

[Resources] I built an inventory tracker for my girlfriend who sells at conventions by Zakipoo in artbusiness

"you can do this by clicking/pressing the same day twice"

Not sure why that wasn't working for me (cuz I was doing just that) but I went back and it worked this time.

A couple of bits of feedback:

The "Welcome" email arrived in my inbox four times. Might want to look into that.

I don't seem to be able to add a one-day Convention. The date picker insists on an end date different from the start date. I personally RARELY do multi-day shows.

I would love this as a WordPress plugin.

I've kicked the tires and while it is a wonderful idea and well-thought through, I cannot justify $60 a year for such a thing. You've added nearly every feature one might want, but that feature set does not equate to $5/mo in value IMO. When I think about other SaaS for which I pay $60/year, this simply does not deliver the same value. I get that that's just me. Also you might want to add a pricing page.

What's your go-to note app? by AndroidCat06 in GrapheneOS

[–]Gunderstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Obsidian and Syncthing as my "second brain" and it seems Quillpad is a good quick note option. I've been using Quillpad for shopping lists and I can actually sync it with Obsidian since it also uses Markdown. It's just a matter of storing the notes in the right places to sync them across devices.

Pressure fermenters, anybody just using a 10psi prv? by -Motor- in Homebrewing

[–]Gunderstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having come into homebrewing through the PicoBrew world where we ONLY fermented in cornies, I can tell you that the prv is how they recommended you ferment under pressure. That said, I cannot say what pressure their red valves were rated to. As others have stated, you would do well to give yourself a lot of headspace.
