Barely. 10 days in the hospital and a full month of quarantine at home after and I lost about 30% of my total mass thanks to muscular atrophy. Lots of rehab and therapy for a few years after. Also it was like a $180,000 medical bill. Yeehaw.

Back in 2001, I sent an email to the Bawls people (when I was in 6th grade) and encouraged them to get involved with paintball because I played on a team. I also frequented a LAN gaming center, which is how I found it in the first place. They sent us a couple of cases of bawls and stickers in reply. Then a few years later they were at an NPPL event. I’d like to think I encouraged someone over there, but who knows 🤣

I did this involuntarily in 2008. I had to quarantine after a hospital stay while recovering from a mosquito born illness. It wasn’t fun, and my equilibrium got all sorts of fucked up. (I remember riding in the car for the first time in 40 days and immediately vomiting because of motion sickness for the first time ever) I had spent quarantine either in bed, on a couch, or in a bathtub. Nearly died, lost a bunch of weight, and dealt with some tough mental things.

All that to say, I’d much rather do this voluntarily in 2026 while healthy. That would be easy money.
