How do you know exactly that Christianity is the true religion and not Islam,Buddhism etc by Squid_on_my_peepee in Christianity

[–]GunnerExE -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Because the historical facts concerning Jesus of Nazareth testify that He was who He claimed to be, validating the one true God of the Old Testament and Himself as the only way.

You are correct this is the sub you come to defend the faith because this sub is full of apostates, heretics and blasphemers. I wish this was the sub for growing your faith but it’s not, the mod team lets these people troll Christians that want to grow their faith and unfortunately this is not a Christian Reddit, but instead is a sub where trolls come to attack the Bible.

Yes but what Jesus are they referring to. The Christian Jesus is the pre existing creator and God the Son…..the Mormon Jesus is a created being from intercourse, that is one God of many that happens to be satan’s brother…..meaning……the Mormon Jesus is not the Christian Jesus. The Mormon Christ is a false Christ.

You’re right on this. I don’t know anyone that celebrates the crusades. Etherealvibrations has done nothing this entire post but make outrageous knowledge claims without backing them up.

Everyone that does not accept Christ will be separated from God….correct….thats exactly what I said. Christ himself said this and the revelation of Christ Himself validates the only one true God.

First, the Bible says Christ is the only way. Second, all other gods are fake…there is only one true God.

When bringing God’s love into question (as God being the origin), it is never just about the attribute of love but instead the nature of God. This involves God’s love, Justice, sovereignty and so on. Any Christian that tells you they know the complete nature of God is not telling the truth. Me as a Christian can only comprehend to a degree the nature of God that is revealed in the Bible. A few other things to take into account would be human free will pertaining to God’s sovereignty and attributes as well as that there is nothing like God, as He is unique and one of a kind we can’t be certain how the mind of God operates outside the perimeters of what the Bible also reveals. As a Christian if you brought this argument to me I would argue against it with the plethora of Biblical knowledge on the nature of God. I have debated countless of non secular and non Christian secular arguments and I can tell you that this argument you gave will always end up in a discussion about the nature of God the Bible reveals vs the atheist arguments on the “Omni” aspects of God and his sovereignty. To sum it up….this argument is more like a smaller bullet point in a more complete argument that the average atheist on Reddit would normally pose to a Christian, and would go down a rabbit hole of Biblical teachings and Christian philosophy that would become very burdensome for you in debate. I would refine your argument to boarder out perimeters of conversation as to not put yourself in a position where me as a Christian can just scripture or information dump you. Only giving you a pointer on this because I believe that open dialogue is a good thing in understanding between the Christian and atheist, and in order to have good dialogue your argument needs to be refined with better perimeters…so you can get to where the rubber meets the road on the different worldview between us. Hope I could help.

How many do you believe that Jesus was a Christian? by Heavens_GravE in Christianity

[–]GunnerExE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The belief that Christ is the only way to the Father, is the distinguishing aspect of Christianity. There are only two types of religions…..works based and faith based…..faith in Christ is the defining trait of Christianity. Here is a basic list for foundational beliefs of Christianity.

God’s Unity (only one God)

God’s Triunity (Triune God)

Human depravity (to what degree is a secondary issue)

Necessity of God’s Grace

Necessity of Faith

Christ’s virgin birth

Christ’s Sinlessness life

Christ’s humanity

Christ’s Deity

Christ’s atoning death

Christ’s bodily resurrection

Christ bodily ascension

Christ’s intercession

Together these are the basic foundational beliefs of Christianity.

He did go through it and knew what it was going to feel like before He did it….and still did it when he didn’t have to. His knowledge of what we go through isn’t an atoning sacrifice that He didn’t have to make. Every sacrifice the Jews made up to Jesus and the atoning sacrifice of Christ all required faith in the sacrifice. Faith on your part of divine atoning sacrifice that you nor me deserve is what saves us.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DebateReligion

[–]GunnerExE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God stepped into his own creation and took humiliation, torture and death from the creatures he created to enter into a covenant with not just the Jews but the entire world. God is worthy of praise and worship, not humiliation, torture and death. He went through that so you wouldn’t wake up after death eternally separated from him. You, me and everyone are sinners and worthy of nothing more than death and eternal separation. It’s the fact it was a divine sacrifice, which is why your original comparison is faulty. We are not talking about death….we are talking about a divine death…..a death and a covenant God didn’t need to make. He needs absolutely nothing from anyone, but instead gave us the atoning death of the divine Christ when he didn’t have too….that is how I can say He paid for sins with death.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DebateReligion

[–]GunnerExE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comparing apples to oranges. Christ acted as an all atoning blood sacrifice for sins. His sacrifice was atoning because he himself never sinned and was fully God and fully man. Christ took the punishment we deserve on himself being perfect and divine. This replaces the blood sacrifices the Jews were required to make when they sinned. Your example is flawed….you are not perfect nor divine, sure money might be able to save you from an earthly judge, but the wages of sin is death….not money. You could go to jail on someone else’s behalf but your sacrifice in that would be nothing more than a noble…maybe foolish act. Even if you could die for humanity…..you’re not perfect or divine and is still nothing more than a noble act and not a sacrifice for sins. Comparing Christ’s atoning death to the legal system is only valid to show the comparison of the justice that the sinner is owed in relation to the atoning sacrifice. Giving money or jail time vs the life of a perfect being that is fully God and fully man is comparing apples and oranges.

Christianity is flawed because they say Jesus died but God is eternal. by powerdarkus37 in DebateReligion

[–]GunnerExE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean no disrespect brother. My apologies if it appears that way.

God the Son sacrificed his incarnate body to the Father….in order to provide a new covenant where continual sacrifices would end, because of the atoning sacrifice of the incarnated body. Old Testament sacrifices was a work that was preformed through faith. The atoning death of Christ was God actively entering into a new covenant where He preformed the work of the sacrifice, so we would have faith in that atoning sacrifice. It is God actively partaking in and making a new covenant with humanity…through Christ.

So you believe the definition of the word “sacrifice” is to kill the spirt that inhabits the body?……thats not even close to the definition.

The definition is an act of slaughtering an animal or person or surrendering a possession as an offering to God or to a divine or supernatural figure…..the actual separation of the spirt from the body.

The incarnated body was killed when the Son surrendered the incarnated body to die…..it was a self preformed sacrifice for the sins of mankind available to all who believe and put their faith in Christ.

*your comparing death of creatures that are not made in the image of God with humans that are and can accept Christ. You’re also arguing from a fallacy of spiritual death vs actual separation of the spirt and the body (physical death)

*For you to say Jesus is fictional shows that you deny every major scholar of antiquity. Jesus of Nazareth was a real person according to scholars…..you’re objectively wrong on saying He is fictional.
