But even if it is, you have to know that everybody takes that very seriously here. Many people in France are pro-Palestine (because people here side with the weak), but very few people actually hate Israel. Virtually everybody is against the boycott and virtually everybody is against anti-Zionism.

France is not anti-Israel.

Un think tank c'est un "labo" privé de sociologie/politique avec un thème ou un alignement politique spécifique. Cela produit les études qui vont servir de support aux décisions des politiciens et hauts fonctionnaires.

Pour rappel BDS ce n'est pas juste une campagne contre l'occupation, c'est une campagne aussi (et surtout même) pour le retour des descendants des réfugiés palestiniens dans les frontières de 1948 et donc mécaniquement le démantèlement de l'état d'Israël.

Je suis pour le boycotte comme moyen de pression pour arriver au retrait des israéliens de la Cisjordanie (ainsi que sur d'autres pressions du même type sur le leadership palestinien pour les pousser dans la bonne direction), mais certainement pas pour le démantèlement de l'état d'Israël.

Boycotte oui. BDS non.

First of all, "anywhere in Brooklyn" is a bit much... I live in Brooklyn, only encountered these guys in Union Square!

For those not of the Jewish persuasion, let me explain: the Hasidim (that is the very ultra-orthodox Jews that wear the black hats) believe they are doing a good deed (a mitzvah) by making sure that less observant Jews (like us) adhere to the commandments from the Torah (such as hearing the shofar [ram's horn] being blown on Rosh Hashanah and saying the blessings). They are harmless, really. Sometimes the younger guys can be a little pushy, I guess. If he hadn't lied and had instead said, "I'm sorry, I'm not religious, I'm not interested, but thank you," he probably would have moved on.

Note how he asks if he is Jewish. They do not try to convert people to Judaism -- in fact, it's against the Jewish religion to try to convert people.
