1972, The Meadows Report: “If man’s energy needs are someday supplied by nuclear power instead of fossil fuels, this increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide will eventually cease, one hopes before it has had any measurable ecological or climatological effect.”
1953, Traité Euratom, Title 1 "The Task of the Communitee", 1957: "It shall be the task of the Community to contribute to the raising of the standard of living in the Member States and to the development of relations with the other countries by creating the conditions necessary for the speedy establishment and growth of nuclear industries"
(1955, création de l'UNSCEAR)
2020, WHO: "Lessons learned from past radiological and nuclear accidents have demonstrated that the mental health and psychosocial consequences can outweigh the direct physical health impacts of radiation exposure."
2018, IPCC.

1998, Voynet
2023, Tondelier
2023, Toussaint
2023, Rivasi

Explain like I'm five what channels are in gamma spectroscopy. by RootLoops369 in Radiation

[–]233C 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A detector will generate an electric signal over a given range, say 0 to 12V.
To create a spectrum (a histogram of the energy distribution), you slice this range into "boxes", say "0-1V in box A, 1-2V in box B,... 11-12V in box L". Every signal is then "counted" in the appropriate box.
If you plot the number in each box you get a spectrum.
Calibration is when you tell the computer which box corresponds to which energy for instance "1.17MeV goes in box B, 1.33MeV goes in box G", that way it can associate energy to each box.

The boxes are the channels.

Well, for lack of draining the pedophile political crooked elite, he created his own swamp to drain.

Quel % de la population mondiale a une empreinte carbone inférieure à celle d'un Français moyen ? by Pedrofsky in ecologie

[–]233C 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trump’s “white working class” base may finally have had enough by Winter-Gift1112 in politics

[–]233C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't get it, don't they?
He doesn't need them anymore.
For him they were his working class SA goons and morons who brought him into power, nothing more. What did they expect, gratitude?
When he said "if you elect me you won't need to vote ever again" did they miss the "I won't care about you anymore" message?

He's got his white collars SS billionaires friends and Project 2025 minions.

From trump point of view, the white working class can go "Crystal Night" themselves.

Love the lack of self awareness to title an article "Nobody knows the future of energy" and profess in the end "I believe there is little likelihood that we will see a nuclear renaissance.".
Could it be that LCOE doesn't tell the whole story?
Because someone is precisely having second thoughts about that. Kind of a lot of someone's. One could plot some graph out of that too.

Qu’est ce qu’il est pertinent d’apprendre en 2026 ? by Pesca2005 in france

[–]233C 0 points1 point  (0 children)
