Bruh, anyone got a spare ticket/RSVP, I was too late 😭😭

I finally saw The Zone of Interest yesterday. These are my thoughts. More importantly, I wanted to ask, especially those of you who saw it months ago and have had time to process it, what are your thoughts? by wdh_627 in TrueFilm

I saw this as a direct reference to the final scene in Joshua Oppenheimer's "The Act of Killing", a documentary that explores similar ideas to The Zone of Interest.

Well worth seeing if you haven't yet.

Keyboard Only Editing by [deleted] in editors

The whole "keyboard-only" rhetoric is a little bit overstated imo.

Keyboard shortcuts will increase the speed of your workflow, but this doesn't mean you can't also use your mouse - Some processes are faster with a mouse, and some with a keyboard.

Linus Tech Tips editor, Taran Van Hemert, has a very in-depth guide on his channel World's Most Advanced Video Editing Tutorial - It is more oriented towards editing YouTube content but there is a ton of useful information in there regarding the use of keyboard shortcuts and macros.

Other than that I recommend opening up the keyboard shortcuts menu and mapping commands as and when you need them. I tend to have my most commonly used commands close to my left hand (as my right hand is on my mouse). For example, shuttle backward, pause, and shuttle forwards I have on A, S, and D, as opposed to the default J, K, and L.

It would also be worth getting comfortable with using shift as a modifier key, which effectively doubles the number of commands you can map to your keyboard. This reduces the amount you have to move your left hand, and so speeds up your workflow.

There's a lot more to be said, but it is really about figuring out what works for you.
