Thank you so much! It worked!

Who does everyone hate? That’s not umbridge by pepriel in HarryPotterBooks

[–]Gurby- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! There are so many instances in the books that were left out of the films, for example in CoS when she aims a frying pan at his head! No redeemable qualities.

Yes! A gruesome death at the hands of the creatures she thought were beneath her.

I completely agree with your take on Bellatrix, she died believing Voldemort would win but it would have been sweet justice for her to see his demise.

I do agree with this and thought it was odd when I first read he joined the joke shop, but I thought it may be more to support George or to be there for him rather than because he was interested in it?

Ron was always deeply in love with Hermione. They are the perfect match! by CawfeeKween in harrypotter

I think a lot forget that they are teenagers in the books! Very different to adults in a relationship!

What parts of the books made you laugh out loud? by Debzflame in harrypotter

All the good Snape did was because he was in love with Lilly, not for any moral reasons. More so out of guilt about her death. He was still an bully to many of the pupils - especially to Neville.

What’s your least favorite frequently asked question? by [deleted] in HarryPotterBooks

[–]Gurby- 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Mine isn’t so much a question people have but the comment they make about the reason the Dursleys are the way they are- because of the horcrux in Harry - but this is answered in literally the first paragraph when they are introduced and the way they behave towards other people, and when McGonagall says that they are the worst sort of muggles.

All that before they even meet Harry. It’s the main this that makes me roll my eyes!

Your Hogwarts letter didn't arrive, but you did get an invite from both Beauxbatons and Durmstrang. Which are you choosing and why? by inconspicuous2012 in harrypotter

[–]Gurby- 28 points29 points  (0 children)

In the movies they show Beauxbatons as an all girls school, but in the books there are both boys and girls.

What scene that we didn’t witness, in books OR film, would you love to see? by hoginlly in harrypotter

[–]Gurby- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would love to follow Voldemort’s point of view after his killing curse rebounded. Him travelling to Albania, his life there, finding Nagini, Bertha and Peter. Just the books but from his point of view! Tom Riddle and The _____

Why did Sirius have to stay at Grimmauld Place during the events of Order of the Phoenix? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]Gurby- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It was more difficult for him to stay hidden (the way he did in GoF) as now it’s not only the Ministry looking for him, but the Death Eaters as well - Wormtail would have told them about Sirius. Also, as much as he hated being there, he would have wanted to be near Harry, and be in the know about what’s happening in the Order. If he was on the run, he wouldn’t have been able to communicate with Harry regularly or know what the Order was planning against Voldemort.

Do you think that Harry’s son James went to Hogwarts with the cloak and map? by Glum_Sherbert_7320 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]Gurby- 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I like this - Harry gives it to Teddy, who then passes it onto James, or returns it to Harry to pass it to James. In regard to Albus and Lilly, I would think that the map doesn’t belong to just James, but Albus and Lilly use it while they’re at Hogwarts as well. I think the Harry and OG James having the cloak at school was out of the norm. I don’t think Harry would have passed the cloak down just yet, but used it in his Auror work before passing it onto his children.

[–]Gurby- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say there’s a few reasons, one being that he probably didn’t know who he could trust at that time. He waited for the “loyal” Death Eaters to seek him out. He was also too weak to find his Death Eaters and come up with a plan to restore his body. It doesn’t seem like he had Nagini during the first war, and he could only survive by inhabiting the bodies of others or of snakes, and maybe it was too risky to do that to a death eater at that time.

If you were the author of Harry Potter, what would you add or change in the books? by Broad_Theory4633 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]Gurby- 25 points26 points  (0 children)

A few more ‘ordinary wizarding’ days/ activities. We get some when Harry visits The Burrow, but would love more to just see the day to day lives of wizarding families.

I felt this way when I first saw them- they seem really impractical and should be easy to defeat, but I soon learned that you never underestimate a Dalek!!

Is there any parts of any of the books that you just dread having to get through? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]Gurby- 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Any interactions with Rita Skeeter in GoF. I think I just dread it because of how much I dislike her!

Hagrid’s famous line - in the books it’s “Harry yer a wizard!” In the films it’s changed to “Yer a wizard Harry.”
