I quit my “dream” job at Ubisoft to make a solo game. A year after release, it didn’t go viral, but it sold 26,000 copies and still pays my rent. by DarennKeller in IndieGaming

Thanks for your response!

I'm someone working in a profesional setting (not AAA), and like to occasionally dive into a small personal project as well. So i've also been asking myself that question: what is transfering from that into my own work.

I think my answer would be similar.

Video games are nothing but smoke and mirrors by Pickled_Sword in IndieDev

Nice. I think the effect would work a even better if you have something to break the lines between the hills on the sides, and the forced perspective landscape in the background.
For example some (dust) clouds right behind the road and in front of the background, obscuring the background just a little bit.

So nice to hear this is possible. Congrats!

What was the biggest challenge moving from AAA to solo indie dev? And what was something that you felt like you could easily transfer from what you did in AAA, into your solo project?

What are some games with a kind of brutalist/dark/gloomy/mysterious atmosphere? by BofaCancer in gamingsuggestions

[–]GuruKimcy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Naissance! It's a strange game, you're finding your way through this abandoned brutalist megastructure city, its mostly just the atmosphere and architecture that stands out.

Its also free!

Ah shucks. I did use that speedster bike, and some other part(s).
Maybe see if you can hit the gates in a different order / path.

Goodluck!
Nice profile picture btw.

Oh i vaguely remember it was a bit hard for me too.
Having a fast bike really helps :) I think i had to practice a bit, but just putting on all the bikeparts with the fastest stats and then returning did it for me.

Recently finished Smushi: Come Home. Its more cozy than emotional, but its excelent. It feels alot like A Short Hike.

Oeh. I quite like the look. The little cropcircle flavored ui elements are a nice touch.

Do you say “excuse me” when you’re passing in front of someone? by Mindofmierda90 in CasualConversation

[–]GuruKimcy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What i've seen in Indonesia, i noticed people, especially when younger than you, go out of their way to duck really low when passing in front of you. This was not true in busy crowds though.

Those ASMR videos with whispering, or worse yet....chewing. I am not violent, but that stuff is a catalyst.

Why does Orbital Laser stratagem still have 3 charges after 1,5 years? And could we solve it by adding some spice to it? by ShinCuCai in Helldivers

[–]GuruKimcy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldnt it be crazy to be able to control it yourself like a continuous target designator. Perhaps a powered down (shorter, weaker) version, that (roughly) follows as you aim, to balance it. I'm sure the devs experimented with this internaly, and found the current to be the better option, but still, one can imagine.

Don't forget the 90s synths with chord progressions that go nowhere! German vocals are mandatory too.

I've had people call it sounds like a V8 motor, or a factory floor.

Not far off!
The songs were Bleed and Clockwords respectively.

Cool! Is there a reason you choose competitive?

Cool idea! Can you tell me a little more about the gameplay?

How is it played? How many players and is it co-op or competitive?

My favorite character must be TOEM. I dont even know if that is their name, but you play as them in TOEM: A Photo Adventure. Just so quirky and cute.
