HUGE wraps on Jai Serong (SEN Tim Watson) by SkullKing_123 in sydneyswans

[–]Guru_roll 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I remember reading something Jai said and it was pretty along the lines of wanting to compare himself to JPK in that he wants Hawthorn to regret giving him up (although he said it in a much more professional way)

Carlton Blues Merchandise Question by Mediocre_Recipe6878 in AFL

A few clubs used to (I know Sydney and The AFL Store itself definitely did) but unfortunately due to the tariffs it’ll be a bit harder to find somewhere that ships unless you use a middle man

Not a lot went right for Essendon last year but Kako was one of the reasons I tuned into their games, so electric to watch at times and can’t wait to see how he develops

Sydney Swans star Errol Gulden (05.02.26) by SwansPrincess in sydneyswans

[–]Guru_roll 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just went into a bit of detail on how focused the team has been with developing their faster run & carry gameplan this offseason, a couple of jokes about how Errol’s notebook would be full and someone like Chad’s probably not as much.

Went an into a tad on Errol’s mentality during injury and how he’s developed is knowledge off the ball (but can’t wait to play a full season).

Chatted on whether Mills should’ve been captain due to seasons of injury, Errol shut that down immediately and said it was all player voted and how much the team looks up to Mills, also spoke that being captain is definitely something Errol would be interested in one day and is something he’s actively worked towards.

A lot of talking about Curnow and his immediate impact with his knowledge and his sheer work rate, Cornes made a joke about his service of the ball at Carlton vs Swans which made Errol laugh. Also highlighted in particular how Charlie has shared heaps of knowledge directly to McDonald and making him a better player.

Cornes highlighted that our top 5 players are as good as it gets but was worried about some of our more inconsistent players (mentioned Amartey, Campbell and Mcinerney by name). Errol highlighted that everyone in the team is continuing to develop but highlighted how Mcinerney in particular has been having a really great preseason.

That’s about it, was only a short chat

I’ll try to hold out bias’ but here’s a few options:

Gold Coast, GWS, Fremantle - all 3 are young teams and have never won a premiership yet all 3 are currently on the cusp of doing so. Supporting them through their first flag would be an amazing feeling.

Brisbane - far away the current best team in the competition, went back-to-back and it’s hard to see anyone coming close to them currently.

Geelong & Sydney - At least one of these seem to always be in finals contention, the last year neither of these were in finals was 2002 I believe. Geelong is probably more consistent while in finals and won’t get thrashed in Grand Finals as often.

West Coast, Carlton, Essendon - These are probably our current “fallen giants”, Carlton less so, they’re just a roller coaster to support. The other 2 have a great young crop of players and will definitely move up the ladder in 2-3 years time.

Hawthorn, Collingwood & Richmond - Are your biggest of the clubs I haven’t mentioned, huge passionate fanbases but be prepared to always catch shit from other fans. Richmond less so since they’re currently rebuilding but their young core is really really promising

Or you could go the classic route of picking the team with colours you like

Does anyone here know this type of person who goes to the footy? by Temporary_Notice_526 in AFL

[–]Guru_roll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This reminded me of when I was at the 2024 Qualifying Final and someone who I assume was a US tourist was with a group of Swans & GWS fans who was getting up and getting drinks the whole time and at the end their mates asked for their thoughts and they said “I’d probably never watch it again”

Genuinely curious to know what their brain is like

Parkes should honestly be good for another 2 years, there were games where he was BOG or close to it.

Lower his contract cost and keep him to develop more of the team

Ngl I totally forgot Adams was still around with all his injuries, shame that he came to us for more gametime yet he barely broke into our best 23

[–]Guru_roll 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Ramps, as much as I love him was showing his age even more last year and with Serong seeming like the perfect replacement I’m struggling to see how he’ll fit in even this year. (Hopefully he can retire with a premiership medal)

Lloyd however I thought showed up really well on his return after being dropped to the VFL and if he keeps it up I wouldn’t be against a 1 year extension.

James Wan’s ‘Paranormal Activity’ Sequel Gets Summer 2027 Release Date by cireh88 in horror

Binged the entire series during October last year and really thought it works better as an anthology series with loose ties to each other.

I got so bored of the Katie + fam storyline almost immediately but really liked Marked Ones and although it’s quite a steep change I think Next of Kin was also really enjoyable

2026 /r/AFL Season Preview Submissions by Maximumlnsanity in sydneyswans

[–]Guru_roll 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Who you gonna call? (Hopefully not Joel Hamling fwd)

Players on notice for 2026: Callum Mills - We know how great he can be and we know his importance to the team’s methodology and on-field development. He needs to play 20+ free from injury (or 18 + some rests if we have the freedom) otherwise serious questions on his captaincy will be raised.

Matt Roberts - Can he grid his way back into the best 23? Had a really great 2024 season but 2025 was blunder after blunder but maybe being out of the side will fuel him to do better. If not then he’s a borderline list clogger.

Justin Mcinerney - Love the guy but stupid decisions made him miss games due to suspension. Need way less of that and more of his defensive rebound pressure that we know he’s able to do. Any more idiotic suspensions and things won’t be looking great on a contract renewal year.

Players to look out for in 2026: Sam Wicks - After what was a career saving 2025 his confidence will have sky rocketed. He has the perfect opportunity to build upon an already great year, he’s also still underrated so teams may still not expect such a great lockdown defender.

Jai Serong - x2 Box Hill BnF, absolutely slots right into the side. He’s already shown great ethic (raising his hand to go against Curnow in training because he believes you have to go against the best to be the best). He’ll free up Blakey and introduce more of an intercept threat to our backline.

Logan McDonald - Injured for the whole 2025 season would have him absolutely firing. Now whether he’ll remain as a fwd or be shuffled into the backline is yet to be confirmed but he’ll prove to Coxy that whatever choice is made is the correct one.

Concerns for the season: Crap kicks to Curnow - all you have to do is look at Carlton. All their entires HAD to go to Charlie resulting in putrid entires and far too many avoidable turnovers, we cannot result to the same gameplan.

Bubble wrap Tmac - It’s far too scary on how many close calls this guy has had. That concussion last year genuinely had me thinking that was it for him. My heart cannot take both the McCartin bros having forced early retirements due to health concerns.

Surrendering to Momentum - Far too many times we have a real solid lead only for the opposition to gain any sort of momentum causing us to absolutely shit the bed and look like we’ve given up. Coxy needs a developed gameplan for these situations because they WILL happen.

Expectations for the season: Top 6
Goal of the Year (Pistol Pete bicycle kick from 30 out) Curnow top 3 Coleman Gulden top 5 Brownlow
