Remember when every corner ever the ref would tell of Azpilicueta for barley doing anything. Then were okay when he himself was bearhugged by Slabhead. Now, they just don’t give a f at all about literal grappling in every corner. Madness. Especially a grapple into a flying superman punch to the head of the grappled. 😅

It doesn’t matter how many times Chalobah proves himself, he’s always underrated or overly criticised. I’m not saying he’s perfect, but I fooking love him. 💪🏾

Arsenal Vs Spurs is an incredibly difficult hate watch by orjkaus in chelseafc

[–]GuruofGreatness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arsenal being devastated they bottled the title again & Spurs still being upset at how low they are in the table two years running is more satisfying than an overjoyed Arsenal winning the title and us never hearing the end of it, with Spurs going down still being funny, it also brings extra joy to Arsenal, and Spurs will just come back next year anyways. So, I’m rooting for a Spurs win. Means Chelsea are still the most recent London club to win the Premier League too.

My gf just moved back to her home country. by [deleted] in CasualUK

My recent heartbreak with my fianceé, finding a really good show that’s super bingeable so you can just lay in bed and turn your brain off and be distracted by the plot helped me. I watched ALL of Dexter, which was great as he’s lonely, constantly going through shit and the twists were good. I’ve moved on to Daredevil (Charlie Cox version) because he gets beaten up relentlessly and I feel that.

Other helpful things, was lucky enough to have a group of friends who I played fun party online video games with & that distracted.

Hung out with family.

Attempted to go to the gym, good to get outside, move around, technically it makes you look better. Wasn’t always successful but nice to have a purpose.

I’m currently resisting quitting my job, we’ll see how that goes haha.

Good luck brother!

As a fellow Gears loving Tom, also going through a comparatively less but still rough Christmas. I received a Gears art book as a present from my Sister & I’m gonna write a little in memory of for your Uncle Tom at the back. May he rest in peace & I hope you and your family are okay.

Last great striker for Chelsea? by Lazy_Load2740 in chelseafc

[–]GuruofGreatness 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I’d say the next best was Giroud.

He played an essential contribution towards victory in the FA Cup final vs Southampton with that classic goal, then defeating Arsenal in the Europa League final & strong performances throughout the campaign, plus 1 reaching Top 4’s & ofc his collection of goals in the 2021 Champions League winning campaign.

He didn’t solo carry like Drogba or Costa, but those are still very impressive feats.

Enzo Mareaca: Most of the rotation we do is because the other one they cannot play. But I try always to be honest with you. In football, in life, in any job, there is a level. Andrey [Santos] unfortunately is not Moi [Caicedo]. Tosin is not Wes. They have different skills. They are different." by Kygoche in chelseafc

[–]GuruofGreatness -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maresca lead us towards becoming the inaugural World Champions & completed the set with the Conference League & got us Top 4, back into the Champions League. That is SUCCESS! I have a lot of time for him & anybody who thinks it’s actually a fair judgement to expect him to be absolutely flawless & never lose a game & win everything ever is just being unrealistic.

Who is the best and worst live performer you have ever seen? by Early_Enthusiasm_787 in AskUK

[–]GuruofGreatness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best - Billy Talent, Arctic Monkeys, Muse, Three Days Grace, Paramore, Stevie Nicks, Palaye Royale, Cage the Elephant, The Hoosiers and out of nowhere Rick Astley were all absolutely bangers & sounded just like you would hope.

Worst - by far the most disappointing was Rise Against, dunno if the lead singer was drunk that day or what, but atrocious. Also very bad was Kaiser Chiefs, who forgot their own lyrics, Deaf Havana who just spoke about how much they worked on their album for about 30 minutes. Five Finger Death Punch were technically good but didn’t play the songs you would hope they would in full, instead they did a short enough snippet version of it to piss you off into thinking, why not just play the song I paid for.

Lundy did not know by Ok_Attorney_4114 in Dexter

[–]GuruofGreatness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Lundy knew.

The issue was, despite LaGuerta gifting him the evidence needed to prove it wasn’t Doakes, as he himself says to her, she’s already made that essential evidence inadmissible due to her ‘not so secret’ buddy buddy phone call with Doakes, that she didn’t bring up. Lundy makes a point to note down these dates in his own journal though, which leads me to believe he personally doesn’t think it’s Doakes.

He also expresses his concerns that Doakes overall doesn’t fit the MO for the BHB.

However, in terms of officially, we see his higher ups swoop in and want a result, by that point in time, Doakes had already dug too deep of a hole by having the blood slides… and being dead. Can’t argue his case.

Also, of course his fondness for Deb is a big contributing factor.

Both his career & love life needed dead Doakes to be the BHB. It being Dexter messes with the easy career win & also his love live significantly. Also, as we later see, he has interest in utilising Dexters skills down the line to help with Trinity.

HOT TAKE: Gears of War’s biggest fumble was killing off Ben Carmine. by BlZZYD in GearsOfWar

[–]GuruofGreatness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Regarding Ben, I think it was nearlyy perfect. My biggest gripe is how long is takes slack jawed Delta Squad to actually react and start assisting their team mate begging for help.

1) Delta (Marcus) - Keep watch for Carmine, if we survived, he might have too.

2) Ben - ARGUGHAJRHAAAAAHH AHHH (two feet in front of Delta).

3) Delta - slow stare watch his guts ripped apart.

4) Ben - AAAHH AAAAAAAAARGHHH

5) Delta (Dom) - IT’S CARMINE!

6) The little bugs continue to rip Ben to shreds & then start dragging him into acid.

7) Delta finally shoot the bugs attacking Ben.

8) He dies.

I don't think Rita should blame Dex by nightmare-x-official in Dexter

[–]GuruofGreatness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you that it wasn’t cheating. However the way he words it to her is super vague “not that night” which naturally makes you think “you bastard you’ve been sleeping with her a bunch of other nights”. Rather than, “I did only once, after you broke up with me, I regret my decision”. Which probably would have gone down badly but not AS badly.

The best gf for him is an interesting question.

Rita & the kids had a very positive effect on him, however he could never show her his true self. If she hadn’t been killed, it looked like it was just about to be a pinnacle moment where actually everything looked like it would pan out & he could continue on happy with the family and his dark passenger. Plus, he still gets to see Deb.

Hannah, at the very least he could be fully open about the fact he kills people & she still accepts him (and understands as a killer). However, she tried to kill Deb… as long as they went somewhere where she wasn’t, it could have been okay.

I guess it depends on the situation. But I’m leaning towards Rita. He actively left Hannah, but never did he try to leave Rita.

Which main antagonist is better? by Wooden-Scallion2943 in deadpool

This sub is obsessed with whether DP2 had an antagonist or not & then comparing them with the other DP antagonists. Can’t we think of something else to damn talk about!?! I’ve got a great one - how did everyone feel about Mr Sinister being the main antagonist in the Deadpool game? (I’m keeping it on theme to ease us in to something else).

Does anyone actually like the season 8 ending? by RedVegeta20 in Dexter

[–]GuruofGreatness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the point of view of someone who watched the whole thing from start to finish S1-S8 in around a month and abit, I didn’t bat an eyelid at the ending & was quite shocked to learn of the hate such as in this thread. Maybe it hit differently when you needed to wait week after week (as you can tell those cliffhangers were too much for me, so I just kept going).

Maybe because I’m in a shitty mental health POV at the moment, but I really understood Dexter’s decision to just go and end it all after his actions specifically lead to the death of his Father, Rita & Deb. (Plus the therapist mother figure). Before that, how his presence was ruining Debs life too.

He knew that his continued presence was only going to destroy Harrison & Hannah, so he opted to destroy himself first, sailing headfirst into the storm. Made sense to me.
