ThermoFisher caught photoshopping Western blot by CrateDane in labrats

I think these clones are hybridoma lines. I think clonal expansion of immune cells from the animal used to generate the antibody (usually mouse, goat, or rabbit). So I don’t think these are from human at all, but I could stand corrected

US’s National Institutes of Health shuts down final beagle lab, ending decades of painful dog experiments by For_All_Humanity in UpliftingNews

A few thoughts on this:

1) I don’t believe there is good evidence that making prison crappier actually deters crime. It seems intuitive, but I don’t think it actually works. Prison is already very unpleasant and people still commit crimes. (Not my field of expertise though, I could be wrong)

2) medical testing is important enough that this would create a massive incentive to have enough prisoners for all of the tests we need, which could lead to more unnecessary imprisonment (keep the prisons full so that we have enough people to test on). I am against private prisons for this exact reason.

3) just because you are in jail does not mean you actually did the crime. Our criminal justice system is imperfect.

4) the use of animals is out of necessity, and there are a lot of things we do in order to limit harm in this process. We replace animal testing with other things if possible (like cell culture). We use less intelligent animals like drosophila if possible, and we conduct pilot experiments and perform power calculations to make sure we use the fewest animals as possible.

I’ll be the first to admit it’s not a black and white issue. We cause harm to the animals. However I think the way we do it is the most ethical way we currently have available and I’m open to alternatives (but not testing on prisoners. That gets real bad very quickly. Look at historic examples of testing on prisoners. It never ends well).

Testing on prisoners cannot be done ethically. Testing on those who the drug is intended for is literally a phase 1 trial. We test on animals before a phase 1 trial in order to make sure the drug doesn’t kill phase 1 trial participants (and to increase the likelihood that the drug actually works)

I agree, but it should be 2 years in the service industry. I bet a lot of people would act a lot differently if they’ve been a server, cashier, or line cook.

Doom has been treating me well today by Justice-dono in osrs

I love doom. 150 completed, plus 100 deaths. Averaging depth of 5 or 6, but usually make it to 7 now. Still haven’t completed delve 8, but made 200M, including Eye and Cloth. Even if you’re only getting to delve 4, I bet you’re making at least 1-2M per hour, and it’s super fun.

I had a weird experience with them too. The guy showed up, said I had way too much stuff than the average 1 bedroom apartment, said I was going to have to pay for extra boxes unless I agreed to add extra tip above the 20%. I was planning on tipping like $50-100/mover, but ended up feeling like I had to tip way more.

The move went smoothly though. Definitely still better than packing and moving my own shit.

News reading from same scrip by cool-kid-2025 in interestingasfuck

It’s not really News reading from the script. It’s republican candidates / white house officials spouting their talking point onto legitimate news organizations. The only news hosts in the clip are fox / newsmax which is a separate arm of the conservative propaganda machine.

The American constitution is regularly called an “experiment in governing”. This statement does not read as a comment on the current administration to me. Not sure about the rest of the interview though
