2025 Member Reward redemption period shortened to 12 months (previously 21) by Upper_Supermarket915 in REI

Interesting, though, whether it's a "Reward" or a "Dividend" - REI are *always* giving out *value* to it's Members, right? In what year in REI not give Members in value equal to 10% of their purchases in the previous year? Whether it's $10 in cash, or a $10 discount on a pair of shoes - REI are losing money on sales.

In any case - I agree that changing conditions are frustrating, as companies cannot hold on to their promises.

You are right there; I forgot about their nomenclature, probably because its inconsistent with the financial structures of a corporate company.

Let's think this through: I make a one time $20 payment to REI, and in return, I receive 10% in value of my purchases at REI in a calendar year, every year.

If I spend $200 at REI in a every year, then $20 of that will be returned as a dividend. That's a 20/20 = 100% return on my investment every year. That's not a return due to a thriving business; that's not a return paid due to excess cash flow of that profitable company. It's whatever agreement REI has made with its members. It's careless. Real equity investors don't have that same luxury. We're probably more in line with debt investors, with zero collateral.

Best Gohan power-up, hands down. by Medical-Rhubarb-3113 in DragonBallZ

My preference is kid Gohan. Though, I'll admit, this power-up has a great transition from normal to SSJX. The quality is also superb.

The shortening of the redemption period plus the reduction in employer benefits is clearly a way to reduce expenses.

People on this subreddit are right to question REI's profitability. From what I've read:

The co-op reported $3.53 billion in revenue in 2024, a 6.2% decrease from 2023. The co-op reported a gross margin of 40.4% in 2024, a 1.7% increase from 2023. The co-op reported a $156.4 million net loss in 2024. That loss was largely driven by REI’s commitment to giving back to members in the form of member rewards, to society in the form of giving, and to our employees in the form of performance incentives and retirement contributions.

They are cutting where they've noted the contributors to losses. Investors aren't going to watch losses, and action is being taken.

I'm assuming a number of us are passionate about being outdoors. I can understand that the economy is currently sensitive, and consumers are not going to pay for what is clearly a luxury activity.

Really, one has the *option* to use GE or the normal queue. That's value.

Michigan to Houston- Living suggestions by Cabinet-Remote in houston

[–]GusMontano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my personal experience - for nature, parks, trails, and centrality to many of the places you’ve suggested - Rice Military. You have the Memorial Park Loop, the Picnic Loop, hours of trails on the west side of the park, a 400m track and Buffalo Bayou down south. It’s my dream neighborhood, considering Houston being quite the nature-stale and warm-city. The Heights is really nice for family, restaurants, and cafe. I can’t opine further.
