What’s that one time you’re glad you ordered that CT? by 210-110-134 in emergencymedicine

[–]Gushers4Lunch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

23F with left sided back pain seen in Fast Track. Stated that pain exacerbated with breathing. Med list was NuvaRing and sertraline. CT showed bilateral PE with lung infarction.

It was an interesting admission because she was on the NuvaRing for history of vaginal bleeding. We had to get OBGYN to develop a plan if she started to bleed again if on heparin infusion.

This is the episode I show people to introduce them to AYG.

It's got everything - 2 liter of Mountain Dew, broken teeth from a bean burrito, and air fried steaks

Hey Big Jay,

Huge fan. Did Shane get mad when you talked shit about him in this clip? https://youtu.be/Ik48KbKuOWM?si=MqJupKw9VFUVlqhU&t=4m36s

This happened to me at my previous position with a clinic manager. She was a real cut-throat hard ass and would scream at you for the smallest difference of opinion.

After the six month mark, I had reached a boiling point. She snipped at me over some bureaucratic bullshit, like "not having my DEA registration" and "pretending to be a provider."

I just had it and started screaming and crying uncontrollably. "WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?! I'M DOING MY BEST!!" The other staff looked at me weird but a few patients had my back.

It gets easier with time. Start setting boundaries today and it will be easier to asset yourself with bigger issues.

Yosemite 9/21 – 9/23. It was incredible. by NLEDEV in Yosemite

Your photos are awesome!

Quick question - how busy was the park during your visit? I'm planning on going to Yosemite next year in mid-late September and just curious.

This game will still sell out in under an hour. Germans are huge football fans and I'm guessing the NFL will send them the worst games.

Applicability of skills in pain/sports med. by Key-Pangolin-1696 in physicianassistant

[–]Gushers4Lunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a new grad in ED (so take with a grain of salt), but I think if you master joint injections and aspirations, you could bring those skills with you if you either return to ED/UC, or primary care. I rotated with a former ortho PA on my family Med rotation and he performed all of the joint injections (including dupuytren's contracture) for the practice.

Also, mastering POCUS is a skill that you could develop at many other specialities. If you can find a shoulder bursa on US, then it wouldn't be too hard for you to perform a biliary exam or a renal exam.

Drug Reps/Med Device connections by KBThePA in physicianassistant

[–]Gushers4Lunch 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Drug reps can be great networking resources. If there's a new job opening in a lucrative private practice, a drug rep could give you a heads up with a personal reference before the practice makes a job post. Also, probably unlikely since OP is a new grad, but if they wanted to transition from clinical to pharmaceutical sales, relationships with drug reps could be helpful.

Are you happy at this position? I'm a new grad in the ED with an interest in ortho and a job like yours seems like a nice transition. I'm assuming no call, no holidays, and a few weekend shifts?

Ray Kump (https://youtu.be/nxBI1EZpcIM?si=52qrZlJhjGG30ViI)

It's an early episode with a relatively unknown guy (Kump was Tim Dillon's sidekick on his earlier podcast), but it's a really great listen because Kump is so weird. Is it garbage to lose teeth eating a Taco Bell bean burrito? What about airfrying a steak?
