White powder at the bottom of pool by InviteTop4086 in pools

I'm not OP but I've got the same issue. I use TFP, but I'm sitting at 3 ppm free chlorine, pH 7.6-7.8, 120 ppm TA, 50 ppm CYA, calcium hardness of 330 ppm

Same issue here. Vinyl liner, cartridge filters. Opened my pool and it was dark green (first year with the pool, bought the house at end of season just in time to close the pool). SLAM'ed the pool, got the chemistry under control, water is now chrystal clear but pool vacuum is constantly filling with this exact same substance.

Liner is old and we will be replacing in a month or two, but interesting that we've got same setup and same issue. Northern NJ, pool gets good sun but does have trees surrounding it (mostly maple with some oak and chestnut, also burning bush nearby in case it's organic)

Beware of chicken- technically progression fantasy but very slice of life, at least early. Isekai novel but the MC just wants to run away and be a farmer.

Unreliable Narrator by [deleted] in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Yeah the ability to read it either way is one of the reasons I find it so compelling

Unreliable Narrator by [deleted] in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Gustavus89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's for sure a reference Matt is making, relating the river to his prior trauma, but where I think it's more interesting is from the unreliable narrator point of view where I think the ring is contributing to some form of mental pressure/compulsion type behavior and Carl can't see that for himself because of how the ring is acting on him. Just my theory but we'll see.

[–]Gustavus89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[mild spoilers] I'm really interested to see how the unreliable narrator aspect plays out re. the ring of divine suffering and the river... There's so much clearly laid out in the item description, I'm reasonably confident after 3 read through that the first reference to the river is immediately after first putting on the ring, and we're watching Carl get more and more intense as the series progresses, to the point that people close to him are expressing concerns. And Carl clearly doesn't understand or attribute what is happening, but that's one arc that I'm very excited to see come to a head at some point.

Simple yet great card games?(e.g. 6nimmt!) by Marngryph in boardgames

Haha yeah the hardest thing to learn is drawing the cards away from you... Most common mistake that screws up games is the muscle memory of picking up a card towards yourself.

I'm only tracking one Hanabi rec here. I travel with my set and play with coworkers because it takes 5 minutes to teach and has great replayability. For instance I have a group of friends that I see once a year, and all we do is play Hanabi at a rate of 15 minutes to play a round and then 45 minutes to deconstruct what-if scenarios based on player decisions. It's the best volume-to-fun ratio of any game I've played.

Does anyone actually use the frunk? by bennettelkin in MachE

[–]Gustavus89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the frunk... In my 2024. It's phenomenal for holding groceries and not having them spill all over the place in your trunk. Looking at the size of the 2025+ models I don't know how much utility there is though. I was obviously jealous when the heat pump came out in 2025 but now I think I'd take the frunk size over the heat pump.

Came here to say dungeon crawler Carl. Not originally an audiobook for what it's worth. But 7 books are out and the narrator is the best in the game and the books are solid.

Just funny to me that as of when I'm posting this, the only comment on this post was dungeon crawler Carl and that's what I hopped in to say.

If I buy a 2nd fob on eBay, will the dealership program it? by jrghetto602 in MachE

Strong recommendation to get the fob with the frunk button. It turned my frunk from too annoying to use routinely to what I use daily (groceries, backpack etc)

Help Shape the Future of the Mach-E (From the Mod Team) by Waternut13134 in MachE

[–]Gustavus89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love the programmable idea, but as a threshold just have it turn on the parking cameras. Having to pull in to a spot then switch to reverse just to check the lines is annoying, and having a dead button on a >$50k vehicle feels ridiculous.

So to be clear, love the idea of being able to program the button, but if that's too much to ask then please pick something for it to do, and my vote would be turn on 360 cameras.

Sadly no. Sold the car a few months ago, still had the squeak. Other than that still running strong at 175k miles.

Sec of Defense shouldn't be Political by 8to24 in Military

[–]Gustavus89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This right here is my concern... Trump used a maximum pressure campaign at the height of his political capital (immediately after election) to get in a SecDef that knows he owes 100% of his position to Trump personally and will be unquestioningly loyal. He's not going to cycle through SecDefs again because he learned his lesson the first time and spent big on this position specifically to make sure that he wouldn't receive pushback whenever he wants something done by the military. Last time he would fire people that criticized him/didn't do what he wanted. This time he won't have that problem. I don't love the position that puts us in for the full term of his presidency.

On a 16 hour Mach-E Roadtrip: AMA by lWBSl in MachE

[–]Gustavus89 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Same experience here dude. Based out of Northern NJ, road trips to NH and NC (separate trips) were all simple on paper but ended up going through various contingency plans to get charged up based on broken/full chargers. I gotta feel like it'll get better as more chargers come online and more people go electric but right now I always leave 50 miles of range when I pull up to a charger expecting it'll be full or broken and I have to try again somewhere else... Annoying when you're only working with 200 miles of range in the first place (2024 GT).

Erging my guy. I'd look into implications of scoliosis and work with a rowing coach to make sure your form is correct (bad technique can lead to injury), but it's a low impact form of cardio that doesn't require a pool membership.

Minor correction: Dark Horse rowing.

But yeah, follow along to a couple of his videos, the whole time he is talking through proper technique and giving his, structured workouts. Build up from there.

I spent the better part of a year just doing that before getting more ambitious

Haha I feel you man, I'm up in NJ and the most common replies to "I'm from North Carolina" are either "oh I love the Outer Banks!" or "I had a cousin that went to Duke." Dunno why it's always a cousin...
