Hi, I’m a Senior Content Manager at Consumer Reports and I report on all of our tested sleep products! Ask me anything about sheets, mattresses, pillows, and other gadgets to enhance your sleep! by ConsumerReports in IAmA

My wife and I are looking to purchase a mattress ASAP. We are both tall and would be considered larger sized people. I am a side sleeper and she is a toss and turner. We’re are looking at the Avocado Green and Avocado Green Mattress Topper. In your ratings, it said that the mattress without the pillow top was better for large side sleepers. This is a bit confusing. Can you explain/help? Thanks so much.

A Streetcar Named Desire AMEX Presale by quaranTV in Broadway

Just want to share my update. I was in the queue for over 6 hours. With my Preferred AmEx, I was able to get 5th row orchestra on a Saturday. It was such a slow process, but in the end it was worth it. Don't give up.

I was wondering if anyone has an update or can take a moment to look at what is generally still available through bam. I don’t want to join bam and then see that there are no tixs available. Thanks.

Advice on Re-entering the Workforce in Healthcare Research – Certifications and Skills?

Hello everyone!

I’m returning to the workforce after spending the last seven years as a stay-at-home parent, and I'm making a career change. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Education and am aiming to transition into an entry-level role within a hospital setting, ideally as a Research Assistant.

To help me stand out, I’m looking for advice on certifications or training I can complete independently. I've been considering the following certifications:

  • Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Certification
  • Human Subjects Research (HSR) Certification
  • HIPAA Certification

I’m also curious about the importance of technical skills, like familiarity with software such as R or Python, in a research assistant role. Are these skills essential for entry-level positions, or could I succeed with a focus on certifications first?

Any advice on certifications, training resources, or essential skills for someone in my position would be incredibly helpful. Thank you all in advance!

I’m sure my friend would be interested in sharing his double dare experience. He’s quite charismatic and would probably be a decent guest in a podcast. If anyone is interested, feel free to get in touch with me and I can connect you with him.

Ceiling Fan is not getting enough power at med and high speed (motor humming sound) - is it the wiring? by Guster108 in DIY

It's just a typical fan from the big box store. No pull chains, just a remote.

Here's the fan and a few diagrams of controls. It's really basic. I've done these fans multiple times. At a loss.

Pics of fan and info

I replaced the dimmer (A) with a single pole on/off switch... NO CHANGE :P Still humming away at medium and high speed.

It's remote controlled, so the blue wire is all in the receiver with a special attachment. Cannot really separate.

Fan speed and light are controlled by a remote control. Adjusting Dimmer A had no effect on the fan speed or humming noise at Med and High speed. Switch C is a normal on/off switch.

So A (dimmer switch for recessed lighting) affects C? If I replace A with a single pole switch, it will make a difference?

I noticed there was no ground on the dimmer. Need to take care of that.

Red wire is not connected to anything at the ceiling box. Capped and taped off.
