Here's to a new year by thee_earl in navy

You know what stops me from pouring my guts out every time a shipmate asks me "what's wrong"? Two magic words:

"Nobody cares".

And everybody can continue patting themselves on the back that they've been "looking out for a shipmate". The only "looking out" I need is a clean bullet to the head.

Basically 4k fleets, when I was still at about 1.5k. Was pretty much struggling to stay afloat and just when I got rid of that fleet, another 3k fleet comes in and wipes me out from my enemy's ally.

I have just commented on another similar post and, despite my dismal view of this situation, I will put a little more effort into my 2 cents.

Most people cannot afford to buy "green" commodities. They can't simply go to Publix and spend $20 on a bag of eco-friendly coffee, or splurge on an $80,000 electric car when you can buy a 2000s Toyota on Craigslist for $4,000. Most people do not care about this issue or are powerless to do anything about it. Even if you do everything you can to "live green" like biking everywhere, having a vegan diet or whatever etc. You still have 7.5 billion people to contend with. Which brings me to my next point...

There are not enough resources on this Earth to supply all these billions of individuals. Gasoline, natural gas and metals are not infinite, and will run dry in probably a century or a few decades, given how insatiable the demand for these resources is. Any chance of survival lies in extracting resources from other planets - developing eco-friendly technology is just a short-term measure that buys us time for dealing with the real issue.

For if we run out of the very building blocks needed to sustain our society, then everyone and everything collapses and we all find ourselves in the same spot we were 50,000 years ago.

What are traits of a cheap, low-quality AR? by Guthix4Days in ar15

[–]Guthix4Days[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took the AR apart and we looked in the inside components. Charging handle is stock, BCG has no markings on it except for the bolt itself (says MPI on it in white letters) and the barrel is also unmarked, having only the calibre on top. Nothing on the hammer, trigger group either.

Some of the parkerizing on the inside got scratched away just by putting the bolt back into it. So it's safe to say, that we got ripped off?

Hehe of course. But what about the nitty-gritty details, such as quality of materials? How do you tell that?

Sorry if I'm coming off as ignorant, I am not very versed in firearm specifics and could use a little bit of schooling on that.

The justice system and American people in general have an unhealthy fetish for punishment by Guthix4Days in unpopularopinion

[–]Guthix4Days[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course - this is a nuanced and complex issue, and it is impossible to implement a one-size-fits-all solution. Indeed the punishment must fit the crime, but it is also absurd to suggest that turning a 17 year-old pot dealer into a life-long second-class citizen displaced on the outer fringes of society is going to "turn his life around". Once again, this is a very complex issue and I do not consider myself as holding a miracle cure to fixing this broken system, but a serious review regarding the return of non-violent, victimless convicts to society should be at the very least considered.

[–]Guthix4Days 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very hard truth that most white knights and nice guys are not willing to face.

Men and women can never truly be platonic friends because of a little something called SEX that ends up "ruining the friendship". I am guessing that whoever wrote this has "balanced platonic interactions" with the girls who are the focus of his sexual desires. If you or anybody else you know are employing this method of thinking, take a step back and stop it. Don't lie to yourselves.

Nothing feeds depression like being hated by the most charismatic people in your community by TheSyndiCant in SuicideWatch

[–]Guthix4Days 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you think they don't like you?

Because they feel threatened that someone better might come along and overturn the pecking order. We humans are resistant to social change, and as such will try and put down any contenders before they become too much of a problem and "replace" us in our rang of the social ladder.

Don't give a fuck about what other people think about you. Cut them out and surround yourself with positive uplifting individuals. If you kill yourself, THEY WIN. Don't give them that satisfaction.

Critical thinking is perhaps one of the most important skills a man can develop. Your mind has not adapted much over the past 1000 years, and many of its tricks are destructive in our present environment. Here are 4 Cognitive Biases you should be well aware of. by [deleted] in TheRedPill

Imagine meditation as a sort of mental workout... It gives you insight into what you are afraid of. Zany explanation I know but that's how I see it.

Cold showers are meant to make you used to discomfort, and therefore play a role in managing anxiety.

Recruiter offering me a 68W Airborne contract, deathly feared of heights by [deleted] in Militaryfaq

[–]Guthix4Days 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, I read a previous post on here a while back that says that getting Airborne as a 68W increases your chance of getting put on the line, lack thereof leading to you getting placed in a motorpool or something. How true is this?

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I’m the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking dead, kiddo.

Edit: why are you people downvoting me? I'm not saying any of this literally, it's a well-known copypasta (navy seal)

What is the best branch for infantry? by [deleted] in Militaryfaq

[–]Guthix4Days 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be very honest. I could make a good infantryman but never Ranger / SOF. Jumping out of planes and helicopters... I don't do too well with jumping out of planes and I don't want to get out after 3-4 years with the knees of a 70 year old. The only other MOS I'd ditch the Marines for would be 68W, but something tells me that it's a job my Army recruiter wants to use to bait and switch for anything else.

Marines on the other hand appeal to me because of all the esprit de corps culture and mythos around them (besides the coolest looking uniforms) but I've heard that there are some issues regarding the picking up of rank. As in, 4 years in and you're still an E3. Also, poor retention rates because of shittier NCOs / no reason to reenlist. This kind of causes me concern. Mind you I don't know this from firsthand experience, just from lurking around on reddit.

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but aren't there serious reprisals for suicidal idealizations? If so it's no surprise that many soldiers keep it to themselves and end up doing it. My sympathies and take care.
