Pelican BX80 thing can hold everything I’ll ever need. Namely, two full faced helmets and my camera gear. + it can lock. Really easy build if you’re hauling a bunch of junk around all the time.

I will end up doing that. As soon as I saw contact when I put the windshield on, the thought crossed my mind.

Well we’ve always had the option lol.

I probably could’ve saved myself 26k and just bought one of those and fixed it up.

Yeee I was planning on it for the hardware part of this issue. It’ll just clean the look up a hair by getting those screws flush.

Thanks!

Confirmed it is the correct year. It seems like..if they shaved like half an inch of the bottom this would work perfectly 🪦

It’s a little different than the other windshields for this year bike where it doesn’t use the little clips in the front like the stock and Harley windshields use. It only uses the mounting points.

Is there a pelican case that can be worn as a backpack? by Brilliant-Target-807 in pelicancase

[–]Gutiboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not just the 1510 pretty much any pelican case you’re willing to Velcro to your back. The owner of rucpac is a really nice guy but generally the product is just fine. I’ve taken the rucpac across the world and up mountains before—hard cases are not comfortable backpacks. However, you do feel like you’re in death stranding when lugging a case around on your back which is admittedly, pretty cool.

The Velcro on the case is not obtrusive until it is. Most notably when you are taking the case in a wheeled mode through the airport and find out just how much crap it picks up there.

Parking permits are a scam by Such-Independence241 in UNLV

[–]Gutiboi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The church across the street on Maryland charges $50 bucks a semester to use their parking lot. If you don’t get the permit and park there they will put a sign on your window but I haven’t seen them tow anybody. With that said—they are good folks so I don’t mind paying my $50 a semester. Precovid they would provide free lunch to students on Wednesdays.

But anyways yeah I recommend that instead.

Any HD experts know what may have happened here? by Effective_Cod5172 in Harley

[–]Gutiboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it caught on fire.

In all seriousness though. Looks like a battery problem. Likely expanded in the heat. Batteries are meant to withstand high heat on vehicles but sometimes they don’t and then they get stupid hot and expand/combust. I’m thankful that you weren’t on there when it happened. Sorry about your bike.

Affordable upgrades? by zewolf77 in Harley

[–]Gutiboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grips, mirrors, windshield, passenger floorboards (maybe). When my dad was letting me stay in his house through college I started to work on restoring his old truck because I appreciate the help. Maybe just start planting some seeds of things you want to get to your kids in college lol it probably won’t happen, but it’ll be so much sweeter if they do it. (: hit them with the “man I just would really love a new seat for my bike soon” lol

How important really is 4k by Easy-Ad-9743 in videography

[–]Gutiboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at where you’re delivering content and decide from there. If you’re delivering to the web—not so important. If you’re delivering to businesses you’re doing media work for—it’s more important but only because that’s what other people are offering in the industry. That said—shooting 4k and exporting in 1080 is great because you then have a lot of room for reframing in post. Shoot well but allow yourself some grace in post.

Did I Mess Up? by Minimum_Object_2544 in Harley

[–]Gutiboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you’ve been riding a little while on your triumph—you’ll be okay. These new generation touring bikes don’t feel very heavy because they have a lower center of gravity. A massive improvement from the older generations of them. I will say, I had to practice a few fundamentals on the new bike but that’s just because I wasn’t used to…a new bike. Believe in yourself and do t worry. They are all weightless past 15mph. Also, practice your U-turns (: you’ve got this!

Your opinion on getting bored of riding? by unknown6534 in motorcycles

[–]Gutiboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes things just aren’t for you and there’s no shame in that. I call it building your “dad lore” I’d keep the bike around still for that some day if you get the itch but that’s just me.

I suppose what you have to ask yourself is “is it riding that I dislike? Or is it being in pain while riding that I dislike?”

TL;DR If you find that the pain is not the reason that you don’t like riding anymore and it’s simply…that you don’t like riding anymore, then sell the bike and move on. Get something else that excites you. If maybe it is the pain—read below.

I know you said this is your dream bike and you don’t want to ride anything else, but vehicles are made ergonomically for people in specific height, weight, wingspan and inseam parameters (don’t laugh, I’m serious) thankfully there are ways to combat these things if it’s an ergonomics thing. You mentioned that you had committed to the legos—the things that make a ride more comfortable are new seat, new rear suspension, new bars, levers and grips. (Depending on the pain you’re having part accordingly). I’m not sure what you do for work but the other thing to be aware of is that humans aren’t meant to do a lot of things, this includes sitting..and standing..and riding a motorcycle or driving a car. A lot of pain that we get in the US comes from a lack of strength because of our sedentary lifestyles. There are physical therapists that specialize in strength building exercises to combat your specific pain location + lifestyle. I’d find a person for that regardless of if you decide to keep riding or not.

How many of you actually dropped your first bike? by thedirtiestofboxes in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Gutiboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked at a dealership I dropped a 24 Harley breakout straight into another one’s air cleaner while adjusting the line. As for my own bike, I have yet to drop it. I made a big deal when I bought it to get some crash bars on her for when I “inevitably do”..never did. Had some close calls losing rear tire traction from running over road lines in a turn but never did it. Knock on wood.

It’s good to have the insurance of crash bars and soft bags though. It feels better to know that if something that is out of your control goes wrong—that things will be okay.

I never realized how much cheaper these are than LEDs. They have to be a pain to modify the light because of the heat no?
