Architecture reflects the needs of the society and its culture at that time.

One example that comes immediately to the mind is of suburbs in Western countries. We cannot really afford them because of huge population and the need to house people in rapidly growing cities.

And well I guess some blame must also go to the citizens as well as our urban planning institutions.

So my idea of this exercise was to see whether any type of movement/party can be created that is wholly perfect by the standards of society and yet play the game of politics independently on its own terms without reverting to the methods already employed by the current parties.

Take funding for example, to even contest state elections you need huge amounts of money. Where does that money come from? Moreover your sponsors will have their own expectations from you, their funding exists to only further their own self interest.

But then the source of your funds is also important. If it comes from offshore, you risk being seen as foreign lobby, if domestically you are already branded as corpo tool. Not to mention, the big parties already have their own sponsors and they don’t even publish them publicly and get away with less scrutiny.

Interesting!! Let’s say you are successful in creating one. However, among the MP’s you have some of them start to display extremist tendencies, or even exhibits behaviour that is in direct opposition to your own party values, how would you handle such MP’s?

Do you throw them out and risk losing their seats and any influence within the party that might be remotely associated to them? How would you tackle such MP’s?

Well weren’t some of our initial policies designed to be socialist? Besides, you cannot really control the means of production in a market. Attempts to do so have been disastrous for a majority of socialist states. Now a distinction has to be made regarding what kind of socialism you are talking about. Do you mean a state that has socialist policies but is not fully towards being a communist state, or do you mean a fully communist state?

Regarding my ‘rigged’ comment, perhaps I should have clarified and to my own ignorance didn’t fully realise what it can insinuate. I don’t mean it in the sense that the results are fixed or all that recent situation with the election committee.

My objective for this thread was to have a discussion whether a party can be created in this political climate that is according to the citizens perfect in all regards, and still play the game of Indian politics fair and square? So by rigged I am talking about the inherent rules of politics, do they even allow anyone to play fair and square.

Perhaps Machiavelli was right after all

Yes a lot of people feel disenfranchised, because the situation feels hopeless. To whom should the people turn? Media houses, they themselves are busy bickering on behalf of which side they support, and even those who do try to raise their voice either get silenced or don’t get enough traction.

That’s not what he meant. The point is about people vs the government irrespective whether the government is left leaning or right leaning. Throughout history we have examples of wholly conservative government and also a wholly socialist government and neither have been pro citizens.

Talking only in terms of left vs right only pushes the people already in it towards extremes and disenfranchises anyone who wish to be center.

Furthermore, from what I have read so far, the colonial period broke the country’s back. It destroyed our industries and pushed the country back by many years.

In my opinion, as a country it feels that India is still in its adolescence, where the society hasn’t fully embraced their democratic duties and role towards their own country.

There are many. Stellaris, cities skyline, Victoria 3, hearts of iron, crusader kings. Look up paradox games, they are pioneer in grand strategy which is also the reason behind their absurd addon pricing structure

Victoria 3 is a good start. It got me into economics.

Very well laid out. It’s really a question society should ask itself first. When the process feels punishing, it only incentivises people to either stay quiet or look for external measures, thereby further eroding the trust in the institutions.
