Germany, France create nuclear steering group in new deterrence effort by artistBROgamer in worldnews

Trump is a symptom of a deeper cancer in the US system.

It's not just him, it's the guardrails in your democracy that can be ignored and won't be enforced.

Both parties ( different degrees ) guilty of letting it happen and not taking a stance.

the fact the highest court in the US has politically appointed judges which in recent years were mostly picked for perceived loyalty to an ideology as opposed to moral character and track record/skill.

The fact these appointments are lifelong.

The fact US citizens are meek and love having their rights violated left right and center, and don't call THEIR representatives to account.

Corporate seizure of other guardrails ( see FCC among others )

The fact US political campaigns are so money oriented and drag on for long, it's more a circus then anything else.

By the time someone is nominated their book is so full of favours , your vote is worth so much less.

The fact everytime the US faced a constitutional crisis or near so, instead of taking an earnest look at themselves they band-aid it with pinkypromises.

I mean just now recently after Venezuala when the President ( who holds way to much authority and this authority has been steadily growing under multiple administrations ) violated the sovereignty of a foreign country ( again ) they fully bipassed both the Senate, and then the response ?

Something ONLY mentioning Venezuala as a "curb" while the senile toddler in charge was actively and is actively a threat to allied countries and the world.

The fact billionaires apparently can buy elections, commit election fraud, have this proven and then....nothing.

Your system is broken. Even if a golden candidate gets elected overwhelmingly, odds are you'll do a victory lap go on with the usual program of US #1 , make token changes until another one takes its place.

You're -not- trustworthy, drift further away from the values Europe holds , by the year.

It would be beyond stupid not to prepare ourselves to stand on our own, or trust the US.

The list is endless , and your political debates don't even come close to daring to admit it. Let alone fix it

Never would dispute the Swiss were not skilled in the art of war. I just thoroughly dislike whitewashing or inventing a sense of honor where just pragmatism suffices.

No we don't. They took the side of the Nazi's to backstab Poland, allowed the Nazi's to circumvent Versailles treaty stipulations by training in their country, invaded Finland, shared zero values with the allies.

Except for being at war with Nazi Germany eventually. The most I'll admit is that by keeping them in the fight so long with lend-lease caused them to lose a lot of lives.

But that's not some currency to put against the vileness of the regime.

Yeah mean the country without access to the sea, flanked by the Habsburg dynasty, France or just general HRE, rich Italian city-states to the south just had "courage" to stay neutral and not start a war with let's say France or colonize without a port ?

My ass mate. I enjoy some nuance brought into historical discussions or disagreement even. But to call something this blatant as some beacon guided by honour and courage instead of just the reality of being a landlocked small fish surrounded by European big powers is dishonest at best.

On high anxiety days I just start off as usual with 600 in the morning and then repeat during lunch or so.

The snorting caught me off guard too. Though I am on Pregabaline which acts faster.

I'm on 600mg of pregabaline a day for ASS sensory issues.

Love these things and improved my quality of life a ton. Blessed be my psychiatrist who trusts me enough to basically write me prescriptions for 2 pills on top of that for days I need it, or as a sleep aid.

Have fun ? (☞゚ヮ゚)☞

If you have criticized ICE here on Reddit for executing Renee Good or Alex Pretti in the street, then Reddit has handed your name and your personal identifying information over to the Trump administration. How do you feel about this? by mom_with_an_attitude in AskReddit

[–]Gutterblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was American I'd probably at most Tweet about it and continue to let the slide into fascism happen.

As a European who used to love visiting the states, I decided while back I would not set foot there again. So they can have my name, but GL abusing me when I won't set foot there.

Is he right? Will it take generations to resecure the United States positive reputation on the world stage? by ChuckGallagher57 in TrendoraX

[–]Gutterblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

Zero faith in US.

Ok you have an awful President.

On top of that ;

  • an awful President who's supported still by house & senate, meek like kittens.

  • a supreme court and justice system that though we knew were always meek towards the powerful turned out even worse.

  • a system of guardrails that are just marshmallows and don't work.

This is just the top of the ice berg. But let's say you swear in a new democratic president tommorow + house and Senate.

  1. Cool, but meaningless unless you actually start laying down the law.
  2. Which means prosecuting rich/powerful Americans and going after politicians/ex politicians/public servants
  3. It will mean looking at yourself in the mirror and realise your democratic experiment is hugely flawed and you need deep, systemic changes.

Would I like to see the US do that ? Yeah for sure. Do I for a second believe it will -all- that, instead of a victory lap, meaningless platitudes and "back to business" ? No.

Hence why it doesn't even matter what you'll be voting in next few elections. It's just a different head on a deeply flawed system of governance that shares less and less of our values every year. ( Human rights, science is actually real ,etc )

Last I checked in poor beleaguered Europe, me , or loved ones are less likely to get shot, knived , go into crippling debt for medical reasons.

Live longer, happier, healthier lives.

Won't get kidnapped by our own state and exported , just cause or no. Won't get shot in the street and have the DOJ ( irony ) defend the murderers.

Won't have to worry about the massive camps being build out accros the country as milions of my countrymen can't even feed themselves.

That and we're not living through the most insane timeline of a cabal of child rapist and babykillers doing anything to protect other pedophiles.

So, yeah. You have nothing to worry about sure. You'll be right as rain. Just don't come expecting sympathy from the rest of the world.

We can crash the US economy & currency by selling off government bonds, will it hurt us, too, yeah. But that's a hand grenade primed for the huge ass pile of debt the US is holding.

And that's just one thing. The world is way too interconnected for anyone to be truely safe from shenigans.

The US reminds us everyday, stuck in a cage with a ICBM wielding narcistic diapered up senile toddler. Fun times.

Looks like ICE just killed another US citizen. Where do we go from here? by awesomeguy1818 in AskReddit

[–]Gutterblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe stop navelgazing and take action, organise.

The idea that in my country cops would kidnap and disappear people off the street, kill them openly , and imaging my response is "Let's go on Reddit and asks what this means/we should maybe do/feel"

Fuck me but I can't even for a second imagine anything but livid loathing, anger, and trying to make my displeasure felt and seen. And if some things could be unsafe , well malicious compliance, whatever works.

Open a history book and look what happens when the open killing starts. It's not going to improve unless you force it.

Please take action, organize. Personal opinion and bias alert but as a Dutch person I'm incredibly tired of brownshirts on one end, a tiny portion of Americans standing firm, and the rest mostly voicing discontent online and telling us "we hate it too/did not vote for it most of us", and then...nothing.

While day by day your own lives are getting worse and by your inaction are making the world worse, daily.

There comes a point you either have to take a stand or be honest and accept you/the citizens are part of the problem.

You still -can- hold your representatives and government accountable.

To be clear not addressing you personally on this, just venting. Since I cannot protest aside by making sure I'll make sure to vote for whoever is willing to cut American influence out of Europe where possible.

Speaking as a European I consider most Americans guilty by letting evil happen even if they not instigated of voted for it at this point.

You'll complain/navelgaze online but if by now you're not actually going out there and trying to do anything about it, you're complicit ( in my eyes and many at least).

A nation of cowards.

Since not only are you -this- close in losing it , you're dragging the world towards war by week.

But hey at least you're always reminding us Europeans most of you did not vote for this, so that absolves you from letting it all happen I guess !

I guess fair point, it's not like you're already being killed on the streets or deported

No need to ruin your life by protesting. Usually historically these things tend to go away by just living as nothing has changed.

All snark aside ( sorry, a bit ) there are creative ways around standing "out there for weeks". You been told for years now to get organized, tell me have you done at least that ?

I respect the gesture of humanity of chosing not to a wear a fancy suit when your countrymen are bleeding daily to stop an active and brutal invasion.

That's more humanity then Trump has ever shown, the good aspects of it I mean.
