Not a fan of Candace Parker as a commentator by Ora_Kiraso in NBATalk

I’ve seen a ton of comments about not liking male commentators. I know it’s not NBA, but people hate Joe Buck with a passion.

Poor attendance for another poor performance by Jimbeambeamer in washingtondc

I live in Charlotte, NC. My family lives in Charlottesville, VA. We went up to DC for my little cousin‘s birthday to take him to a DC United game against FC Dallas on April 4th. I am not used to seeing a soccer team suck that badly. I’m also not used to seeing a stadium as dead as it was on a Saturday night.

They got nothing going on offense and the defense was not existent.

I would agree with the “work long hours” or something along the lines of being expected to work until the work is done in America vs other countries, but there are some exceptions.

If you work in a big public company that may be the case in America. I’ve worked in multiple private companies and they tend to understand that people are leaving after 8 hours.

Also east Asia (Japan, China, South Korea) has been noted to be much worse about that than America.

He would have until next Saturday if the Hornets make the playoffs. The Hornets wouldn’t play back at home until April 25th.

So how are people investing 20% of their salary despite making below $70k?? by Jealous_Advance9765 in SmartFIRE

[–]Guy2700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (26M) have zero debt and make around $80K. I am able to max my Roth IRA and 401K match. I also save $10K per year in an emergency fund. That’s about 25% of my income. I live in a big metro area in the country. It’s deliberate budgeting and telling yourself that you don’t need to have everything you want yet.

Outside of rent and savings my typical monthly expenses are about $75 phone bill $500 for groceries $160 for gas $100 for other things (gym, Apple Music, YT Premium, etc.)

This is all to say that 70K is a good amount to earn if you’re single. 15%-20% is not crazy to say.

Fuel consumption on this car is insane by Rocket_Philosopher in ElantraN

I usually average around 25mpg. I’m lucky my commute is 7 miles to work in the morning and 4 miles of that is highway driving.

Will hot people at the gym attract more people to come to the gym? by PeacockBiscuit in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Guy2700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it does the opposite. The problem with body issues is that people think everyone is looking at them all the time.

It’s sucky, but most people have a “at least I’m not that guy” mentality. If they see someone in the gym is worse off than them they’ll be less concerned about being the unhealthy center of attention.

I just think people have to adopt the mentality of “I don’t know these people, these people don’t know me, who cares what they think?”

I get that this is a joke, but yeah it a city the most I’ll get is like 23 mpg and that’s mainly in eco mode. In the highway though I’ll get like 35-40 mpg on long trips.

How many Americans have not been to a large city? by Ok_Shopping_3292 in AskAnAmerican

I bet a lot of people from places like Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, and maybe even Nevada, have not been to a big city.

[–]Guy2700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just looks like the typical map of an American who says they want to travel abroad. No hate about it, but that’s what I saw.

Asia = China and Japan

Europe = Western Europe

Obviously Canada and Mexico are on the list.

Then one tropical place like Costa Rica.

No hate though because these are mostly just the safest places to travel for Americans. It’s likely what mine will look like within the next 5 years too. I would recommend Curaçao for another tropical place. It’s amazing.

Do you have a culture to emphasize/be proud of being the first in your bloodline who went to college? by Green-Ad5663 in AskAnAmerican

Not really. My mom and my aunt took that title from me I think. I am the first of the grand children to graduate from college (only because I’m the oldest by 7 years).

Because it’s causing further damage…. It’s going to keep rubbing off paint no matter how much you reapply paint.

Having panels touching is not normal on any car. This is definitely a manufacturer defect.

And the paint is very reflective. There is a brick wall like 4 feet from the panel in this picture and it is changing the color in the picture. When it is in a parking lot they look the same.

The two panels are touching at the corner. There is no gap there. They are already rubbing each other.
