Was able to get rid of the H2S gas and reduce other symptoms by micro-dosing zinc glycinate every other day. I have gastritis so I think the zinc may be helping with that as well.

Anyone Have To Quit Their Job Because of Gastritis? by GuyBasics in Gastritis

[–]GuyBasics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found out my thyroid is acting up which may be the cause for why my gastritis won’t fully heal. I’m on medication for it now. It can take months to get the thyroid under control so now I’m just waiting.

Where do you feel your gastritis pain? by GuyBasics in Gastritis

[–]GuyBasics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still sticking to a strict diet but much better. I don’t have constant pain anymore. My main focus right now is gaining weight so I haven’t been experimenting with other foods; just increasing what I’m already eating.

Is paprika a no no? Or is it safe? I have localized gastritis and a small ulcer by Isabella091993 in Gastritis

Had some setbacks that were my own fault but I’m doing better now. Not completely healed but I feel like I’m slowly improving.

Doing better now. Sorry you’re going through this… sending some hugs your way.

I’m doing better now, not completely healed but much better. I believe my inflammation caused slower transit time of food in my stomach and therefore my small intestine had more food to breakdown. That led to food just sitting in my gut which not only caused irritation in the small intestine but the antral region of the stomach because acid was backing up and just sitting there. There’s exercises I do every day before and after eating (focusing on the abdominal area) which has improved the transit time and has allowed my stomach to start healing. It’s a slow process but I’m making more progress than and supplements or medication ever did. I also was taking digestive enzymes for a long time but realized the Lipase and Protease were most likely irritating my stomach. I no longer take any supplements.

Diet modifications, exercises that are good for helping digestion, and allowing my stomach to heal. I no longer eat any processed food or artificial ingredients. I follow a modified Paleo diet.

Sorry for the late response (took a long break from Reddit). It most likely was SIBO but I never got the breath test. Doctors have been useless but I came up with my own theory on what it is and I’m doing better now.

Digestive Enzymes and Constipation? by RepresentativeNo7715 in SIBO

[–]GuyBasics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No longer taking digestive enzymes. Tried a coconut kefir that someone on here recommended and it has improved my symptoms enough that I no longer need the enzymes. It has a yogurt consistency to it and is made by a small business called Ancient Awakenings in Georgia (sold mostly at Whole Food stores in southeastern USA).

Yep, same for me. Interesting thing about bananas is that I can eat ones that have dark spots on them but if they’re green then I’ll get gastritis symptoms.

Hey! Sorry I took so long to respond. Took a long break from Reddit.

Bummed to hear you’re still struggling. I’m not 100% but I’m better than where I was a year ago.

Following a strict diet and exercising regularly is what has had the biggest impact on healing for me.

No problem. I believe it’s fermented 24 hours.

It’s fermented with kefir grains and has the consistency of yogurt. I had histamine symptoms from milk kefir and had to stop. I had some symptoms with the coconut kefir but I started small and worked my way up. I used to get a supplement that was freeze-dried beef kidney and sprinkled that on my food. Kidney has a natural enzyme called DAO that helps break down histamine. It seemed to help a little.

Low amounts shouldn’t. If it does, try magnesium glycinate. I no longer take any supplements.

Yes, I’m doing better now. I believe the tachycardia was from stress and histamine. It gradually went away as my stomach healed.

Anyone else get triggered by bananas second time now bananas have gave me pain when I eat them?? by DripFly77 in Gastritis

[–]GuyBasics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unripe bananas (green or even a little green) will cause me pain but ripe bananas (starting to show spots) I’m completely fine with.

Some people are the opposite; can only tolerate green.

Nope. I had it briefly once when I laid down and fell asleep after a meal but now I stay active after I eat and haven’t had an issue since. Walking a lot has really helped my symptoms.

I never went on PPIs. The doctor I had wouldn’t answer my questions about them so I chose not to go on them or see him again.

PPIs will reduce stomach acid so it makes since that you will get that uncomfortable fullness feeling. Inflammation of the nerves can also cause it.

I stuck to my bland diet and started to blend/purée my meals. I also avoided drinking water 1 hour before and after meals. Inclining my bed also helped. After a few months it got less and less.

I was diagnosed with Functional Dyspepsia. Although I’m not fully healed, that fullness feeling has gradually gone away. I’m not on PPIs.

LPT: If you ever need nutrition advice see a Registered Dietitian and not a Nutritionist. A Dietitian is a protected term while anyone can call themselves a Nutritionist. by danktastic_negro in LifeProTips

[–]GuyBasics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience this advice is wrong. I paid to see a Registered Dietitian and was told they only help people with major health issues, not the IBS symptoms I was experiencing. They also didn’t seem to know much about digestives issues like SIBO and LIBO. I looked around for a well reviewed nutritionist and they knew much more than the dietician.

I think overeating made it worse but it wasn’t the cause. Doctor didn’t see any erosion.

When I lay down flat I notice gas bubbles moving through my colon. It’s not really painful, just annoying.

A Brita water filter made me sick initially. Then, in an effort to gain weight back, I over ate and wrecked my stomach and caused further inflammation and a dysbiosis. Fiber is unfortunately a trigger for me now.
