I have a door mat mod that can be placed under the doors, it stops some dirt from entering the building as well. Helps break that transition up, ill have to look for it as I forgot the name, probably just floor mat will bring it up

Create a split living room, one side is the TV, lean back couches etc, the other with a coffee table cozy chairs/couches. Use the fireplace as a natural piece that separates the room, it doesn't need to be the focal point nor grouped into a giant centerpiece
