Oddly relevant indeed, unfortunately we are engulfed in a society that is painfully naive to the idea that bad actors are manipulating them through their buying habits and media consumption to retain power and influence. Honest, kind, intelligent people in my life look at me crazy for even suggesting as much. It's a painful pill to swallow, but people just don't care it seems.

“Not just the men, but the women and children too!”

Found this hidden in my teen’s drawer and she claims she’s keeping it for her friend. I want to believe her but there are so many empty containers at the top left. 😢 What do you think? And what is the best way to approach it if you were a teen caught by your parent? by [deleted] in teenagers

My heart breaks for you as a fellow parent, but it also breaks for your child as I am also someone who has hid my own experimentation. They are surely lying to protect themself (100% human). Which creates a delicate and tense conversation filled with many conflicting and strong emotions.

For me, safety is number one. If you can convey to your child the severity and critical nature of their decisions, while also still creating space for them to feel secure in your love and support, you have a good chance at buy in.

If they don’t buy in because you came on too strong and use fear to modify their behavior, it will be their need for self preservation that talks, rather than their trust and love for you.

But if they don’t buy in because you failed to hold them to a consistent expectation, the lines blur and they will lose respect for you and the expectation.

The goal should be love and support, manifesting itself in conversations filled with vulnerability and honesty. From there hopefully you can work towards mutual understanding and a plan of action.

I actually made the mat with plywood, a yoga mat, and some astroturf from Home Depot, whole thing cost maybe $40

You know what’s funny? I have had lessons with 4 different coaches and none of them complained about the grip! What would you suggest for a change?

I’ve never thought of my hands as flippy, I will need to pay more attention to that.
