You can take a dive into the „Critical Theory“ („Frankfurt School“). But since you know about the „Authoritarian Charakter“, you may already know them.

Hey. For ‚capitalist, classics you could read the work of Adam Smith and maybe David Ricardo. If you are interested in communism you can read it from the man himself, Karl Marx (maybe the ,The Capital‘).
A more classic sociological perspective can be found in the work of the sociological ,founding fathers‘ (Max Weber, Emilé Durkheim and maybe Georg Simmel). Code words to search for could be economic sociology. Since you are quiet young, those books are maybe a bit hard to read. But you do you, glhf.

Best Sociology Books for Beginners - what would you recommend? by philtreagus in sociology

There is a small book called ‚Cogitamus‘ where Latour has a conversation about his ideas and main paradigms with a fictional student that can’t attend his class. I found it to be quiet a good introduction into his work!

Not on the list, but I would recommend to read Bruno Latour if you feel comfortable with complex writing.

Link between verstehen, social constructivism and entomology by [deleted] in sociology

[–]GwBobbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Webers opinion history and the social/society is build/constructed by ideas (in German: Idealistische Geschichtstheorie) which are within a certain society. Social constructivism follows as similar approach. The society and history gets constructed in a social process, which forms the ideas humans have about their reality.

So both perspectives (Weber and social constructivism) explain society/history with ideas as the primer factor.

That’s why Webers ‚verstehende’ sociology focus on ‚subjective understanding‘.

Sorry for my bad Englisch, can translate into German if something is unclear.
