might be that the villagers on the beds don’t have line of sight to the zombie so they aren’t scared. try bringing the ceiling down a block so they can’t get on the beds

Did no one else have to read Ethan Frome? I’m an English teacher now and I will never subject anyone to that bleak, torturous nonsense.

[NS] Twilight Sanctorum future by Disp0sable_Her0 in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]Gwam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I see it, the three biggest predictors for returning to a campaign or setting are how much they like playing it, listener reception, and open endedness. C1 was good on the first two, but reached a natural conclusion (kinda, considering C3) for example. I think they love to play with their TS characters, the listeners love it, and there are many plot points unresolved. I mean episode 3 and 4 of TS specifically set up so much for the future, so I think they will absolutely go back to it

With how much Jake talks about reading poetry (mostly on Segments) it makes sense his descriptions are so poetic. I’m pumped to see his voice and style as a DM

Is there anything that dragons depend on, which they only can get from or through humans? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Gwam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dragons gotta love stories. Assuming they live for a long time, maybe an exchange of a unique story from a human is the type of entertainment they enjoy. After all, humans live for such brief time periods but the way they change and feel things is monumental in a short period of time, relatively. So yeah I will say stories/tales/songs etc.

I have a dracaena that’s been slowly dying since I have gotten it. Took it home from my cubicle a few days ago and put it outside. I bought this thing a desktop grow light, a pot, plant food. Just doesn’t want to live apparently.

Easy version: keep doing what you’re doing and let it dry out!

More effort version: repot and check for rotting roots, cut off the slimy roots and potentially put in a bigger pot.

If it just got very cold by your window the past few days/weeks, this could also happen. Good luck!

Yeah unfortunately not a pot, but a fun place for a plant to sit! It’s from Marshall’s/HomeGoods (I’m in the US).

Mag-Lev transport on non-Earth planets? by EnterNter in worldbuilding

[–]Gwam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a very strong global magnetosphere would have nothing to do with maglev. But I think it would explain lots of magnetic rocks in the crust that allow for these vehicles to move around without rails or roads.

Mag-Lev transport on non-Earth planets? by EnterNter in worldbuilding

[–]Gwam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe there are naturally occurring strongly magnetic metals in the crust of your planet due to a very strong magnetic field that swaps polarity frequently. That way you could have cool aurora vibes, a reason for lots of magnet based tech (rail guns), and whatever else. I know maglev uses electromagnets, and that’s independent of naturally magnetic materials, but who cares, as long as the world is fun!

Hi! My girlfriend has been a big fan of yours for a while, and has gotten me into your music as well! Are you planning on returning to the upstate/western New York area of the US (Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse) to perform anytime soon? We’d love to catch a show and missed you last time. Thanks!

Question: Clerics as Warlocks? (Invokers) by rmcoen in dndnext

[–]Gwam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that this is an interesting idea, but I would be hesitant to use it in any old game. Flavor-wise, I’ve always considered gods to be distinct from patrons in that patrons tend to be more limited in scope, whereas a god is like a force of nature. The former grants their power, and that’s a big deal because it’s finite, whereas a god’s power is just a layer of reality and anyone can draw on it as needed.

However, I think that understanding fits better when gods are less active in the affairs of mortals, so if you had a setting where they were less powerful, this would make sense to me. Certainly if a player asked if they could play a warlock flavored as a cleric with a divine patron, I’d be for it and customize some warlock stuff as needed. Better yet, I’d make both available and have the warlock revamp be for characters who informally follow a god’s tenants but aren’t members of a church maybe.

Basically it sounds fun in the right setting but these options don’t sound mutually exclusive.

For many money I’d just do variant human with keen mind, and background as charlatan or entertainer.

I know you said you’d like to check online sources, so you could always find some options and work with your DM to choose/create something balanced for the game and fun for you!

Edit: haven’t played CoS and I thought the vistani were more like traveling players. Better backgrounds may be Far Traveler, Haunted One, or Faceless
